Disclaimer: I wish that Harry Potter were mine… wishes on a shooting star. Did it work? No? Darn. Oh well, It's all JK Rowling's and she is an amazing writer so yay!
James Sirius Potter feels the cold air whip past his cheeks, and sting his eyes. He is flying; the only place where he feels free and where he can think. How could she? How could Lily? He accelerates to get away from those thoughts, swooping low to the ground and then shooting skyward again. He thinks back to what had transpired only a couple of hours ago.
The entire Potter family had been on edge for the last day. Lily was finally bringing her new boyfriend home to meet them. James fiddled with his watch while Albus tapped his foot and his Mum and Dad bustled around. Finally the door opened and Lily entered, a tall man with indigo eyes and dark hair right next to her.
James shakes himself out of the memory. He does a lap around the Quidditch field that his uncle had built for them, and then lands. He takes a small, glittering snitch out of his pocket and sets it free. James clambers back onto his broom and sets off. He catches the snitch easily and then unwillingly dives right back into the memory.
Lily looked nervous, her delicate hands shaking. The man next to her clasped one of her hands and she took a steadying breath. "Mum, Dad, James, Al… This is my boyfriend. Aidan Zabini." Horror filled James's body. How could Lily date the boy that had been his sworn enemy all throughout Hogwarts? How could she betray him like this? He stood up abruptly and stormed out of the house.
James comes back out of the memory. He is calmer now and can remember the trepidation that emanated from Lily when she first came home, the love in both Aidan and Lily's eyes and the absolutely shattered look on Lily's face when he rushed out. She is his baby sister and now he can remember that he would and still will do anything for her. Even make amends with his enemy. And he does. And three years later at their wedding, he is the first to tell her how beautiful she is and how happy he is for her.
