A/N- Obito is one of my favorite Naruto characters and I wanted to write a good fanfic with him. Seeing as how my other fanfic with him isn't gaining much of a following, I decided to try a RWBY xover.

This shares the same opening as my other story, but I changed it slightly.

This is the incomplete first chapter. Let's see what the reaction to it is like.

Also, in this story, Summer is still alive at the time of the events depicted. She has yet to go on her fateful mission.

Be sure to leave a review.

EDIT- Made some changes and added to the chapter.

Disclaimer- I OWN NOTHING!

As Obito Uchiha felt the last of the life leave his body, he was satisfied. He had done many terrible things over the course of his life and he could just hope that what he had done in the end would be enough to make up for it. At least in someones eyes. He knew he didn't deserve to be reunited with Rin. Hell, he wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. So now he simply waited for the last of his consciousness to leave him as he died. It was a strange feeling, coming face to face with death yet again. The first time had been on that mission with Rin and Kakashi, and now here he was again. Embracing the reaper and his cold, steel, blade. He closed his eyes... and then... nothing.

He felt absolutely nothing. A complete lack of feeling. No stimulation whatsoever. It seemed like an eternity before he finally opened his eyes to see what had happened. However when he opened his eyes he was not greeted by either fields of flower or a pit of flames, but rather a mirrored image of himself. Or at least that's what he thought it was. The image showed he was no longer injured in any way whatsoever save for the scarring on his face. He was also wearing his Uchiha uniform (The outfit he wore whilst fighting Kakashi) and that the right sleeve was still missing.

"What is going on?" he asked as he looked down at his hands as he clenched his fists. "Is this what awaited me? An eternity in nothingness with only my reflection? I understand the symbolism. Reflecting back on ones life. I get it. I fucked up. If I had another chance to do it over I would. Anything to make up for my crimes."

"And that is precisely why I brought you here." came a distorted voice.

Obito spun around to search for the source of the voice but found nothing.

"Over here." the voice called again.

Obito slowly turned around and was greeted by the sight of his own reflection waving at him. "What...?"

"Good to see that I have your attention now." his reflection said.

"Who are you?" Obito asked as he lowered himself into a combat stance.

"Now, now, no need to be hostile. I only came here to talk." spoke the reflection.

"Well then. What did you want to talk about?" asked Obito who didn't lower his guard at all.

The reflection sighed. "You ninjas are always so paranoid. This is why I don't really deal with your kind very often." the reflection shook his head as he said this.

"Part of the job description." replied Obito.

"Of course it is. Anyway, you can relax. I mean you no harm. I really just want to talk."

Obito was still wary of this strange phenomenon, but it did seem like it only wanted to talk with him so he relaxed his stance. "Very well. What do you want to talk about?"

The reflection grinned. "Oh, nothing in particular. Just wondering if you would like the chance to see Rin again." it asked as it put it hands in its pockets.

Obito's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that I can reunite you with your lost love. All that you have to do is perform a task for me." explained the reflection.

"How? How can you reunite me with Rin?"

"Well you see, I am a being of incredible power. However my power is only limited to the afterlife. Sending you to where she is would be as simple as snapping my fingers. All I need is for you to do a job for me."

"Oh yeah? And what exactly would this job be?"

"Well, there is a place that is in need of a hero. Someone who can help turn the tide against the encroaching darkness that threatens to swallow the land whole. I want you to be that hero. The one who shall stand against the darkness and push it back."

"Feh, I'm no hero.I don't deserve such a title after all that I've done." responded Obito.

"Oh but you can be one. You will be given the second chance that you desire. One last shot at redemption. Ensure that the light prevails and I shall reunite you with Rin."

Obito remained silent for a few moments in thought. "I do this and you will reunite me with Rin? That's it?"

"Yep. I'll be honest, it may take some time, but with your jutsu's and other abilities you should have little trouble."

"Hmm... very well. I shall take you up on your offer."

"Excellent. I will be giving you some basic knowledge of this world along with the understanding of their language."

"Wait, what do you mean by 'this world'?"

"Oh, did I not mention that it is another world? Silly me. My mistake." the reflection said as it disappeared.

"Daaaaamn iiiiiiit!" Obito shouted as he suddenly felt a strong pull.

In a flash of light Obito opened his eyes and looked up to see trees overhead. "Damn reflection thing." grumbled Obito as he sat up. He grasped his head in pain as he was assaulted by a headache. Various pieces of information were flowing into his brain. Grimm, Aura, Semblance, the names of locations, all kinds of info was rapidly being dumped into his head and it was somewhat overwhelming.

Obito stood up from the ground and scanned his surroundings for movement, hostile or otherwise. He found none.

"Well, at least I wasn't dropped in the middle of a battlefield." Obito said as he dusted himself off. He was in a forest of some sort and there was no one in sight. On the ground next to him was his gunbai. He picked it up and swung it a couple of times to get a feel for it again.

"Well, best get moving. I should try to find civilization before nightfall." Obito said to no one in particular as he picked a direction and started walking. As he made his way through the woods he took inventory of his supplies. Strapped to his belt were various pouches carrying a variety of kunai, scrolls, or other miscellaneous items. He would have to check his Kamui dimension at some point to take stock of the supplies he had stored there, if there was anything left.

As Obito made his way through the forest, he could hear the faint call of a little girl.

"Mommy! Mommy!"

"What would a little girl be doing in the woods looking for her mother?" Obito mused to himself.

He decided to investigate and soon happened upon a young blonde girl who looked to be about 4 years old. She was dragging along a small wagon which held a sleeping girl who was younger then her. The two of them were approaching a run down shack, evidently looking for their mother.

The door to the shack slowly creaked open to reveal multiple pairs of predatory red eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness. A low growl could be heard coming from the shack as one of the creatures inside crept out.

It looked to be a bipedal wolf of some sort. It wore a mask of bone and pitch black fur that blended with the shadows. Razor sharp claws twitched in preparation to strike as it moved closer to the girls. The information in Obito's head told him it was a beowolf. One of the many types of Grimm.

Soon the beast was joined by another, and another as they poured out from the shack and bore down on the little girls.

"AHHHHH!" shrieked the blonde.

Obito blurred into motion and quickly put himself between the beowolves and the girls. He swung his gunbai at the first beowolf. The impact sent it flying back into the rest. Then his hands flew through a series of hand signs before he brought his fingers up to his mouth. "Fire Style: Fireball jutsu!"

A powerful stream of fire erupted from Obito's mouth and engulfed the Grimm. They flailed about in agony as the flames burned their fur and scorched their skin. After a few moments they fell over dead, succumbing to the flames and began to dissolve into a black mist.

Obito turned to face the girls. "Are you alright?" he asked with a gentle smile.

"Y-yes. Thank you mister." spoke the blonde.

The little girl in the wagon had stirred awake from the noise and was now crying.

Obito crouched down to the little girl and rubbed her head. "It's alright little one. Everything is fine." he said with a calming voice.

The girl sniffled and wiped her eyes as she unsuccessfully tried to hold back more tears.

"Don't worry. The bad monsters are gone. You're safe." he tried to reassure her, however she continued to cry.

'Not good. She's gonna attract more Grimm.'

The info in Obito's mind told him how Grimm were attracted to negative emotions. Anger, fear, sadness. The girls loud crying wasn't helping either.

Obito watched for a moment as the blonde tried to calm down her sister to no avail.

"Let me try." Obito said as he scooted the blonde out of the way. "Look into my eyes." he instructed the little sister.

The girl stopped crying for a moment to look into Obito's eyes. When she did she saw his sharingan spinning and soon she felt drowsy. Moments later she fell asleep.

"What did you do mister?" asked the blonde.

"Just a little charm." replied Obito. "Now, what are you two little girls doing out here in the middle of such a dangerous forest?" he asked as he squatted down to be eye-level with the blonde.

"They were looking for her mother." came a voice from behind Obito.

He slowly turned around and saw a man who looked to be in his mid-twenties who was armed with a large sword. The man had black hair that was mostly slicked back save for his bangs that fell forward, along with faint stubble along his jawline. He wore a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and a red tattered cloak. Several rings adorned his fingers and he wore a necklace with a crooked cross-shaped pendant. His red eyes gazed at Obito with a scrutinizing look. He was sizing him up.

"And you are?" asked Obito.

"I'm their uncle. I've been looking for them for awhile now. Thanks for locating them for me. That fire helped me to find you."

"Well, I guess it was a good thing I found them when I did. They were about to suffer a rather unfortunate fate." Obito explained as he gestured to the remains of the Grimm that were nearly completely dissolved.

"And for that you have my thanks as well." the man said as he offered his hand to Obito. "The name's Qrow Branwen. You?"

Obito took the mans hand and shook it. "Obito Uchiha."

"Well Obito, the least I can do for you as thanks is offer to buy you a drink back in town. How about we all get out of this creepy forest?"

"That sounds like a good idea."

"Come on Yang. Your dad and Summer have been worried sick." Qrow said as he addressed the blonde.

The girl, now named Yang, shifted uncomfortably under her uncles gaze. She knew she would be in trouble for going off like she did.

"Don't worry. They're not as mad as you think. Just concerned." explained Qrow as he knelt down and hugged the blonde.

The four made their way through the forest with Qrow in the lead. He was holding the sleeping girl in his arms while the blonde walked beside him. Obito was at the back carrying the wagon that the girls had with them.

"So, what were they doing looking for their mom in the middle of the woods?" Obito asked Qrow.

"Yang was looking for her birth mom." answered Qrow. "Yang's mother, my sister Raven, left her and her father when she was 1. No one has seen her since."

"That doesn't explain why they were in the woods."

Qrow used his free hand to scratch the back of his head. "That shed used to be a safe house for our team. I guess Yang thought she might find her there."

Yang looked down at her feet as they continued on their way, but remained silent.

"And the other girl? You make it sound like she has a different mother."

"She does." answered Qrow. "Yang's father remarried and Ruby here is the result of their union. They're half-sisters."

"So that's it."

Qrow then pulled out and fiddled with a small rectangular item, scroll Obito's mind told him, before putting it away.

Soon enough the group found their way back to civilization. They passed through a small albeit lively town and eventually arrived at a rather modest looking house. As they approached the door flew open and out rushed two people. The first was a somewhat short woman with black hair that was mixed with red. The second was a tall, blonde haired man with a short, scruffy beard.

"Yang! Ruby!" they shouted as they ran over to Qrow.

Ruby stirred awake in his arms and when she saw the woman she reached her arms out towards her. "Mommy!" she shouted in joy.

"Ruby!" the woman replied with equal excitement as she took the girl from Qrow's arms.

Meanwhile the man reached down and pulled Yang into an embrace. "Don't you ever run off like that again!" he shouted in concern.

"O-okay daddy." the blonde replied with teary eyes.

"Thank's for finding them Qrow." said the woman.

"It wasn't me." Qrow said as he took out a flask. He was about to open it, but a glare from the woman made him put it away. Obito also caught her mouthing the words 'not in front of the kids'.

"Then I take it your friend here found them?" asked the man as he gestured to Obito.

"Yep." answered Qrow.

"Thank you kind sir." said the woman. "My name is Summer Rose. I'm Ruby and Yang's mother." she finished her introduction with a slight bow.

"And I'm Taiyang Xiao-Long. Their father." said the man as he held out his hand to Obito.

They shook hands firmly as Obioto introduced himself. "Obito Uchiha."

"Well Obito, if there is any way we can pay you back, please, don't hesitate to ask." spoke Taiyang.

"I'm sure we can work something out."

Just as Obito said this a loud rumbling was heard. It was his stomach.

"Perhaps we can invite you in for some lunch?" mused Summer.

Obito chuckled weakly. "That would be much appreciated."

Taiyang, Qrow, and Obito sat at the dining room table while Summer finished making lunch for the group. The men were talking about things in general while Ruby and Yang played in the living room next to them.

"So, Obito, what brings you to the island of Patch?" asked Qrow.

"Patch? Is that where I am?"

"You don't know where you are?" asked Taiyang incredulously.

"Not really. I'm somewhat of a vagrant. I've been traveling from place to place for a while now. Would you mind telling me exactly where I am?"

"You're on the island of Patch. A large island just west of the Kingdom of Vale." said Qrow. "It's a quaint a fairly populated island with a rather small Grimm population. We also play host to Sanctum, the local pre-academy training school for Huntsmen and Huntresses. Both me and Tai work there as teachers."

"Ah, I see." nodded Obito.

"So, where are you from?" asked Taiyang.

Obito thought about how he should answer for a moment. "I originally came from a rather secluded settlement called Konoha. We were a secretive village that kept to ourselves, hiding in the forest in the territory of the Mistral Kingdom."

"What made you want to leave?" asked Qrow.

"Our village... was attacked by Grimm when I was young. Nothing remains." Obito said somberly.

"My condolences."

"After that I decided to travel the world and see if I could find my place in life." continued Obito.

"Are you a Huntsmen?"

"Not exactly." answered Obito. "Although I do hunt the Grimm, I never went through a formal training academy. My village liked to train our people themselves as we were developing a new way to combat the Grimm utilizing a new energy called chakra."

"Chakra?" asked Qrow.

"Through various methods, the most common of which is hand seals, chakra can be controlled and manipulated to create an effect that would not be possible otherwise, such as walking on water, exhaling fire, or creating illusions." explained Obito. "However, unlike Semblances that only allow for one type of ability, chakra can allow for multiple types to be used."

"Interesting. But what exactly is chakra?"

"Produced within the 'chakra coils' that mainly surround and connect to each chakra-producing organ, the energy circulates throughout the body in a network called the 'Chakra Pathway System', which is similar to the cardiovascular system. Chakra is created when two other forms of energy, known collectively as one's 'stamina', are moulded together. Physical energy is collected from each and every one of the body's cells and can be increased through training, stimulants, and exercise. Spiritual energy is derived from the mind's consciousness and can be increased through studying, meditation, and experience."

"Incredible. And you're saying that your village has developed ways to manipulate this energy into different offensive forms?" asked a dumbstruck Taiyang.

"Not all are offensive, but yes, we have quite a number that are used for attacks. Perhaps after lunch I could show you an example."

Almost as if on cue, Summer came into the room holding a platter of sandwiches and drinks which she placed on the table.

"Ah, smells good hun." said Taiyang as he gave his wife a peck on the cheek.

"Oh you~."

Obito savored the taste of his meal as it was the first meal he had in a long while that wasn't improvised. Being wanted all across the Elemental Nations didn't exactly allow for him to stop and enjoy a nice cup of tea at a restaurant.

After their lunch, Obito stood up from his seat. "So, you wanted me to show you an example of using chakra?" he asked.

"If it isn't too much trouble." said Taiyang.

"Well then, allow us to go outside." Obito said as he headed for the door.

"Come on girls. Obito is going to show us something cool." Summer said as she picked up Ruby and ushered Yang outside.

Once they were all outside, Obito walked up to a nearby tree. "My first example, the ability to walk on vertical surfaces." Obito said as he placed one foot against the tree. Then, much to the surprise of his onlookers, he placed his second foot against the tree and didn't fall off. He then proceeded to walk up the tree.

"So cool!" shouted Yang.

"Now, the body flicker." Obito said as he disappeared from his position on the tree and reappeared in front of the family.

"Magic!" exclaimed Ruby.

"Now for an example of chakra's offensive capabilities." Obito said as he faced away from everyone. He went through the necessary hand signs and took a deep breath. "Fire Style: Fireball jutsu."

A stream of flames erupted from his mouth and into the air. After a few moments he cut off the stream.

"And there you have it." he said to his awestruck gawkers.

"I-incredible..."

"Impressive right?" smirked Obito.

Qrow then approached Obito with a very serious look on his face. "How would you like a job at Sanctum?"

"What do you mean?" asked Obito.

"I have some pull with the headmaster. I could easily get you a job there if you so desired. If you can teach our students how to do what you just did, you'd be a hit." explained Qrow.

"Hmm, I never thought about teaching before." Obito said as he scratched his chin. "But I suppose I need to find a place to settle down. And Patch seems like a pretty nice place."

It was then that Yang ran over to Obito and hugged his leg. "Please stay! I want to see more cool moves!" she begged with a smile.

Obito smiled back at her as he reached down and ruffled her hair.

"Well... Sure. Why not?"

"Yes!" Yang cheered as she fist pumped.

"Although I don't have any money or anywhere to go."

"That's okay. You can stay in our guest room for the time being." offered Summer.

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose on you."

"Not at all. It will be nice to have some company around for a change."

"Okay. If you're sure. But I still need some income."

"Leave that to me." spoke Qrow. "We'll head into town and take on a mission from the request board. Some quick easy lien." Qrow said as he rubbed his fingers together.

"Sounds like a plan." replied Obito.

"We'll head out in an hour. Until then I suppose you'll want to see where you'll be staying."

"Excellent idea. I'll show him to the guest room." said Summer as she led Obito back into the house.

Summer led him to a small and simple guest room on the first floor. It didn't have much in the way of amenities, but it would do.

"Once again, thank you for the hospitality." Obito said with a bow.

"Oh no need to bow. It's the least we can do since you saved our daughters." Summer said as she began to close the door. "I'll let you settle in. We'll call you when Qrow is ready to leave."

Once the door was closed Obito went over and locked it. He then walked over to the window and closed the blinds. Once he was sure no one could see him his mangekyo sharingan spun to life. "Kamui."

A swirling vortex apearred in the air in front of Obito's eye that started to engulf him. Moments later he was gone from the room and in his kamui dimension.

"Now to see what I still have." Obito spoke as he went through the supplies in his personal dimension.

Paper bombs, shuriken, fuma shuriken, kunai, food pills, spare sharingan, spare clothes, scrolls, seal tags, everything was just as he left it. Once he was sure everything was in its rightful place, he exited the dimension and returned to his guest room.

Seeing as how he still had some time before he would be leaving, Obito decided to meditate in silence as he waited for Qrow to come and get him.
