Arrival
As the ancient vampire dissolved to ashes, leaving only bones, the portal closed, the hydra being drawn back into the abyss. As the witnesses watched with relief, there was a brief jolt of terror felt as the beast pushed forward for an instant before being yanked back even faster. All who watched thought nothing of it, not realizing that there were others who had slipped through while the hellmouth was active in order to not be noticed. Not only did they believe in stealth, but they also were there on a mission, that none could know about until it was too late. They had the best intelligence from the leader of Hell, and what they had heard worried them, not to mention the favors earned from completing their tasking.
As the ambient light shone on the football field there were three silhouettes visible on the turf. One tall, stocky and apparently male with spiked hair, and a short-sleeved trench-coat flapping. The other two were obviously female, one with shoulder length hair and the other with locks of hair flaring out past her hips. As the turned away from the school several more details became visible, such as the male had blond hair, blue eyes, and was wearing a red fabric coat, while the shorter female had raven wing hair, so black that it almost seamed blue, and the other girl had strawberry blond hair, that almost appeared pink.
A somewhat skilled observer would have believed that the shorter of the two was blind, having no apparent pupil, nor even any apparent iris. Those more observant would have noticed a complete and total absence of any mannerisms indicating blindness, and in fact could be forgiven for thinking that she could somehow see better than her companions.
As they walked away from the school they seemed to tense momentarily and then flickered from sight, with a different aftereffect for each. The strawberry blond left a swirl of petals that were a pink and white color, there was a burst of water from the long haired female, while the man had the most visually impressive disappearance, a flash of orange and then nothing there, and no sign that he had ever been there.
As the witnesses to the scene in the library walked out they gave no indication of having noticed anything out of the ordinary, which perhaps could be forgiven as the terror and relief from such had drained them much more completely than any vampire ever could.
AN: This story is an unofficial continuation of a story by ShaperV called Time Braid. It is set after they defeat the final villain, and establish a third side to the eternal conflict.
