Author's note: This is a one-shot, nothing else. I am NOT updating this…so please just be content to use that magnificent little head you got and imagine a less…sad ending. Let me explain. This is my version of the ending to My Sweet Sinner. Not really. I'm only getting back into shape for writing. This is only a WHAT-IF, so please don't freak and go ballistic…again…thank you.
Disclaimer: More torture…eh…WHY OH WHY DO YOU INSIST ON CRUSHING MY DREAMS!Warning: This won't end to your liking, so if you can't take sad endings, this isn't for you. Actually, it's a cliff. Or…a side-help for a future chapter to MY SWEET SINNER. This is a side-possibility for what Rosette and the Order was thinking at the end. I should put this up later, but I will now since I haven't updated in, like, forever.
MISSINGA clock ticked somewhere in the distance, challenging the silence that engulfed the Order with tranquil suppression. Her quiet steps made no sound as they left the cold stone, the tray bouncing in her hands slightly with every step her thin frame took. Her weary face reflected recent grief, and her aching bones screamed their rebellion against her movements. Her tired eyes were outlined in black from loss of sleep, and her face sunken from missed meals.
She shifted the tray slightly in her hands, supporting it carefully with one hand as she raised the other and knocked softly against the old oak, praying dearly that someone actually answered today. She knew no one would answer her, but she tried once more, ignoring the memories of all the failed attempts.
"Rosette, come out. You need to eat." Sister Kate's tired voice drifted in through the doors.
Rosette ignored her, just like she had ignored her for the last 2 weeks.
"Rosette, come out, please?"
"…"
"Rosette?" She asked, pausing to knock again, "I brought food, Rosette. Open the door." Sister Kate said desperately.
She sighed. It wasn't like Rosette wanted to ignore her…she simply couldn't hear her. Had been for the past 2 weeks. Had been since Chrono had died…and Rosette practically with him.
With a tired sniffle the old nun pushed the door open slightly and took a step inside. The usual sight greeted her, rending her heart in two.
Rosette sat in a chair, eyes seeing things only she had seen. She had been subjected to horrors so unspeakable that she hadn't spoken since…
It was hard enough to lose Chrono, but to loose Rosette too…had sent the Order into a state of deep depression. The halls no longer rang with Rosette's screaming and Chrono's attempt to calm her down…or their laughter…or their tears…
She took a deep breath and set the tray down, knowing Rosette wouldn't touch it, even if it was in her reach. She wouldn't eat…not anymore. For now, she would just have to accept it and hope that Chrono was happy wherever he was. She couldn't say the same for Rosette really, because Rosette was still searching…searching for Chrono.
A single tear slid down Rosette's cheek, glistening in the soft moonlight.
"Chrono…"
End
Okay, this was a WHAT-IF type deal. This is what COULD'VE happened at the end of My Sweet Sinner, after I left it there. This isn't my work, just to say. Now, please review cause if you review, you get chapter 7 of My Sweet Sinner. Heh heh heh…
