For Kushina Uzumaki life was good , between training her genin team , enjoying the glow of a newlywed , shopping for babyclothes for her besties second born with seemingly no war on the horizon , could life get any better ?

Apparently , it could .

Kushina found this out , first hand , while clutching the medical reports tightly in one fist and pumping the in the air in excitement all the while listening to the medic-nin before her explain the standard dos and don'ts of pregnancy.

Strolling around the village with a larger than life smile plastered on her face , Kushina could think of nothing else other than the tiny human blastocyst growing in her .

The rest of the village on the other hand , couldn't for the life of them, think what was wrong with Kushina Uzumaki that day. A newly minted genin had just bumped into her without so much as apologizing . Few teenagers had been snickering between themselves , mocking her vibrant chili red hair. Yet all the while the' red hot habnero ' just kept traversing along towards the general direction of her home .

Mikoto Uchiha too, was having a good day today. her firstborn, Itachi who was with her, finally taking a, much needed ,brake from ninja and clan studies, was enjoying a day with her in the helping her pick out the juiciest tomatoes ,for which she had the strangest craving for these days. 'Speaking of tomatoes' , Mikoto thought, from the corner of her eye could see her red-haired friend walking aimlessly with stupid grin on her face ,much like the one she wore when she first started dating Minato.

Slowly lumbering towards the lady in question who by then had broken out of her reverie and noticed the heavily pregnant Uchiha matriarch coming her way , Mikoto , who didn't use formalities with her best friend,came straight to the matter .

" Whats up with you today ? You look exactly like how Jiraya - sama does when he's heard that there is a mixed bathing hot spring in town ."

Laughingly Kushina replied ,

" if you'd got the news I got you'd be as happy as I am " .

Curious, Mikoto probed further into the mysterious topic which made Kushina oh so happy .

"Well? Don't keep me hanging just spit it out already ! "

" I'm pregnant ! "

" What !? How far along are you ?

"About three weeks. Just found out today , I was actually on my way home from the hospital when you stopped me ."

After a little more small talk , the two women parted .

Kushina having reached home by now was thinking of ways to surprise her husband with the news . She thought of the standard ' I'm pregnant ' but that seemed to boring and cliche for her taste .

Meanwhile , Minato had already seen the medical report confirming the fact that she was pregnant which Kushina had carelessly left lying on the kitchen table. After seeing that white sheet of paper . Minato rushed into their bedroom , scooped his bewildered wife into his arms, and proceeded to twirl her round , while whispering in her ear.

" we're having a baby . "

to which she whispered back , lips curled in in a smile saturated with happiness

" Yes , yes we are " .

Chakra demons , dead students , genin teams and ramen ,were all but forgotten in that moment .
