Dis scooped the hobbit up into her arms and held her close. It had been a little while since they had met, and already they were close. The hobbit woman was surprisingly affectionate (in private) once Dis got to know her. None would have guessed it when they saw the two in public. Though they walked side by side, they rarely made any indication of the other when surrounded by others.

That all changed whenever they went to visit family. Though Lobelia Bracegirdle and Bilbo were not actually related, Lobelia's relations with her former husband made them in-laws. They would still make jokes about it every once in a while for old time's sake.

When Dis had first heard word of the hobbit, she hadn't known what to expect. Her brother was strange, but falling for a halfling? While she'd headed to Erebor, she took a detour through the Shire to see what was so amazing about this race. Though they lived up to their name as creatures of Yavanna, they did not impress her until she passed through Hobbiton. There, she met a woman named Lobelia.

Before they met, she saw Lobelia fight off rather rude hobbits with only an umbrella. What a graceful warrior she was! After hitting them only once they ran off and all other hobbits cowered in fear. That took immense power! It was love at first sight, and Dis knew that she must woo the great warrior.

She'd been late to Erebor by a few months, and with a hobbit in tow, and a most beautiful one at that. Dis had put a sword in her hand and the woman had proven that she could use that just as well as an umbrella. No orcs brought them harm while on the road.

It had been nice, coming home. Lotho had met his big brothers, Dis had finally seen her family and homeland again, and Lobelia was checking out the kingdom for herself.

Really, the competition had started on accident. The two had been eating dinner with Thorin and his husband when the two had shared a rather close moment in front of them. Lobelia had gotten angry, and Dis couldn't blame her. It was all fine and cute between them, but did they have to see it?

So Dis had started using her own little hobbit for her advantage. Really, who said that only her brother and his husband should get the joy?

And when those two got angry at Dis and Lobelia for doing what they did? Well, Lobelia told them the truth: They were bloody hypocrites.

Then she and Dis went right back to what they started.
