Five people that didn't become famous for their part in the Stargate program when it became public
Nobody aboard the Destiny became famous. In fact, while the Stargate Program was eventually disclosed publicly, the events surrounding the Destiny would remain forever under wraps. When the crew didn't check in 3 years after going into stasis, it was decided that their mission was to remain classified until such time when it could be determined what exactly had happened to them.
The crew simply became a small section among a large number of "also-rans" associated with the program and labeled MIA.
Nobody would ever know that Nicholas Rush would be the first human being in recent times who achieved ascension unassisted by an Ancient or any other being from a higher plane of existence. He was also perfectly content with keeping all his newfound knowledge to himself, so even if people had known, he wouldn't have shared anything anyway, and that suited him just fine.
Nobody would reap the benefits when Eli discovered evidence of a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease in the ancient database, and while Eli would have been delighted to share his findings with medical personnel anywhere, he really had just done it for TJ. She was the one he'd worked so hard to save, and he didn't care about fame or fortune. Saving his friend's life was reward enough for him.
Nobody gave a medal to Dale Volker when he developed an artificial kidney for his co-partner Ronald Greer, after an injury had wrecked his one remaining kidney. If the communication stones had still connected to someone on Earth by then he would have gladly recreated the device there and probably made a fortune.
Nobody built a statue for Vanessa James who had worked her way up to lead the fleet of starbound travelers, when she guided her squadron into battle against unimaginable threats countless times. There was no promotion for her, no pay raise, no shiny new buttons or symbols on her uniform, no twenty-one gun salute when she lost her final battle at age 97+.
Nobody gave credit to Everett Young, the reluctant leader who gave everything he had to give to ensure the safety and survival of his people, who was willing time and again to sacrifice his own life to save one of the others, who, despite his many troubles and shortcomings was the one they trusted, the one they followed, the one who would listen to their suggestions and who would keep them working for the common good as a team, who reminded them daily that together they would always be stronger, and who lived as an example of how the journey, however difficult, would always be more important than the destination.
