Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Heroes" from Season 3. Enjoy and comment.
One morning, Bill and Ben were at the quarry, pushing freight cars full of clay into their proper places.
The twins are cheeky, and love playing tricks.
But they were getting bored.
"Listen Bill!" said Ben. "Can you hear that?"
"What?" replied Bill.
"It sounds like something different."
"I can't hear anything different."
"Exactly! Everything is the same. What we need, is a surprise!"
"What kind of a surprise?"
Before Ben could answer, the quarry manager arrived.
"I have received a message from Sir Topham Hatt. He wants you to go to the station at the harbor,"
"I wonder what we've done wrong this time?" said Bill nervously.
"It must be you!" replied Ben.
"Why me? I haven't done anything."
Sir Topham Hatt was waiting for them.
"Edward is taking the children on a special trip today, so I want you two to go to the station, and look after the freight cars.
"We'll do our best sir!" said the twins.
Gordon spoke severely to them,
"You must behave here, since this is the main-line!"
"Actually Gordon." giggled Ben, "when we saw you, we thought this was the scrapyard!"
This made Gordon very cross.
"Just make sure the Express coaches are ready for tonight!" fumed Gordon as he steamed away.
The twins laughed and went to work.
"This is easy!" they said to each-other. "We know all about cars."
But I'm afraid, they didn't.
"No need for that!" shouted the cars as the twins pushed them into place. "We'll show you around, we want to help!"
"Thank you very much!" said Bill and Ben!"
The cars giggled and began their tricks.
That night, the yard was in a mess.
The twins had asked the cars where to be put.
Gordon and the passengers were waiting impatiently outside the station, while Bill and Ben sorted things out.
By the time Gordon left, it was very late indeed.
Next day, the twins were working at the quarry again, when there was a strange noise.
"That's a weird noise!" gasped Bill. "I've never heard a noise like that before.
"I have." said his driver nervously. "It seems like a rockslide to me!"
Then came the alarm.
"DANGER! CLEAR THE QUARRY!" shouted the quarry manager.
Workmen scrambled into the cars.
"Thank goodness we're here!" said the twins.
They were just puffing out of the quarry, when…
"HELP! WAIT FOR ME!"
One of the workmen had been left behind.
Ben waited as the workmen quickly climbed aboard to safety.
The twins left the quarry, just in time!
Nobody was hurt, but rubble laid all around.
"Oh dear!" said Bill. "This wasn't our fault! I hope Sir Topham Hatt will understand!"
And he did.
Next day, Sir Topham Hatt arrived on-board Edward. He was very pleased.
"Bill and Ben, you still have a lot to learn about cars, but you acted quickly in the emergency, so we give you three cheers!
"Hooray, hooray, hooray!"
"Thank you sir!" said Bill.
"Being called heroes is a very nice surprise!" said Ben.
