AN: Whatever Jason and Adam are talking about at the end of this... I don't remember what it was at all. Your guess is as good as mine
The kid was angry, though Jason wasn't exactly Sally Sunshine himself. "I know you don't care for sappy moments but I know how Adam will be if I don't say goodbye to you and just do me a favor and if he asks tell him I told you goodbye," Jason told him, rubbing his eyes . He wasn't good at this sappy older brother shit; that was Grayson's job.
He really didn't expect for the kid to have his arms wrapped around his middle without him even noticing. Just like Adam had been when Jason had told him he was going to look for his mother; in hindsight, he should have listened to the kid. It was just as awkward as that day, since he still didn't know what to do. After at least fifteen minutes of the awkward hugging Damian pulled away and looked up at his older brother. There was an unspoked moment between the two. "Don't leave Todd."
"I'll miss you too, demon-child."
Jason couldn't remember saying goodbye to the rest of his family. It was if he was on autopilot. It wasn't until he was back at the jet talking to the newly re-appointed, black and blue, Nighthawk that he was back to reality. "Make sure the demon child doesn't turn out like us," Jason asked Adam, hands shoved in the pockets of his jacket. Adam nodded, knowing that the kid didn't need to turn out like Jason and him. Jason hugged him. It took him a second to register the contact and by the time his brain was functioning again Jason was in the jet.
"Fucking Bats."
Jason didn't cry when he found out about Damian. He returned to Gotham the night of his funeral, not telling Roy or Kori where he had disappeared. Adam took him to a local bar, both of them drowning their sorrows in whiskey. "Did you know?" Jason questioned.
Adam shook his head, "Had no idea."
