"Jace!" She screamed.

"Stay there! Don't come any closer or I swear I will kill him!"

"Let him go! Please!" Clary begged. She took a step back and dropped her sword, "Is that better?"

"Clary, no," Jace croaked. His weight shifted slightly. Clary saw what he was doing and took another step back. The vampire was none the wiser.

"That's it, little girl," the vampire said.

"Hey, you! Vampire. What's your name?" Clary asked, buying time.

"My name?" The vampire scoffed.

"Yes, your name," Clary confirmed.

"Vladimir," he said.

"Well, Vladimir, how about you let Jace go?"

"And why would I want to do that?" Vladimir frowned.

"This is why!" Jace grunted. He moved his leg with incredible speed. It came up and knocked Vladimir's arm. Once his grip was loosened, Jace grunted again and shoved his elbow into Vladimir's face. "Thanks for the help, Clary,"

"Sorry," Clary grabbed her sword and jumped onto Vladimir. She tucked her sword into its holster and got out her stele. Clary marked out a rune on the floor and ceiling within seconds and held Vladimir still while Jace kept punching him in the face. The runes took effect and a beam of light stretched between the two of them. The ceiling began to crumble and fall away.

"Nice morning, isn't it Vladimir?" Jace mocked. Vladimirs mouth formed an O shape as he began to burn and crumble away.

"I'd like to see you get out of this one Vladimir," Clary said, cocking her head to the side. She stayed on top of him until all that was left was a pile of dust.

"Well, that was easy," Clary said, brushing her hands off. Jace grimaced.

"Easy for you to say," he mumbled, "You didn't have a vampire with his teeth at you throat." She laughed and turned around.

And they walked back to the Institute.
