"Vanessa, please don't cry." Catty touched her arm gently, before Vanessa turned away. Catty noticed how scared and small Vanessa looked; she knew that she was going to be alone. "Please, Nessa, don't cry. Please," Catty's voice seemed to turn into a whisper.
Vanessa finally looked up at Catty. "Please, Catty don't leave me. You can't. Please, no." She held onto Catty's arm, like a small child. More tears streamed down the blonde goddess's face, yet she didn't seem to notice. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, before more tears came rushing down her face. Catty stroked Vanessa's hair, as she felt hot tears stream down her face. She bowed her head, knowing what she had to do.
Vanessa looked Catty straight in the eye. "Why?" Her voice was stern, before more tears streamed down her face. Catty sighed, she didn't know why herself.
"Because I must." Jimena peeked her head in the room.
"Four more minutes." More tears continued to stream down Vanessa's face.
"Please, please, please, please. No!" She buried her face in Catty's shirt, as Catty rubbed her back.
"I'm sorry." Vanessa gripped onto Catty for dear life, Catty doing the same. Vanessa wrapped her arms around Catty, as she began to whisper to her. "Please, Catty. I don't care what it takes stay. Please. You're my best friend, and I cant live without you." A waterfall of tears continued to damp Catty's Paul Frank sweatshirt.
"Ness, I am so sorry, please forgive me, and move on."
"Catty, its time." Jimena lead Catty to the roof. She continued the transformation ritual, as Serena had to hold Vanessa back, to keep her from interfering. "Are you sure that this is your choice?" Catty paused for a second before nodding. "You know the consequences of this choice don't you?" Catty again nodded.
"Hurry up! I can't hold her much longer!" Serena was having trouble keeping Vanessa away. Jimena nodded as she rubbed ash on Catty's forehead.
"Say the prayer." Catty nodded as the Latin words spilled out of her lips.
"Lego, meus curator, meus matris, solvo meus animus. Lego, meus curator, meus matris, solvo meus animus. Lego, meus curator, meus matris, solvo meus animus." By the third time she said the prayer, blue light gathered around Catty, devouring her body. The light moved up towards the sky, bringing Catty with it.
"Good bye Nessa," Catty managed to say before the light disappeared towards the sky. "Good bye, Catty, good bye." Vanessa felt the tears well up in her eyes again, before Jimena and Serena led her towards the house. Serena was now crying, and so was Jimena, a rare sight.
Vanessa woke up with sweat forming on her face, Catty sprawled next to her, her arms tossed around, her brown hair all over her face and shoulders. Vanessa smiled, knowing that it was only a dream, and she would have to accept Catty's decision. She would hate to lose Catty, but she would have to respect her decision, but for now, she was going to spend the time she had with her best friend. She would live without her. "Good bye Catty. Goodbye." She smiled before leaning back on her pillow and falling fast asleep.
