It's the first time Charle has seen Happy like this.

His eyes are red, but it's not with sadness. It's with anger. Happy has never been one for anger. She's so used to the eccentric and always smiling tomcat that she has forgotten that he too has other emotions.

For her, it's always been being chased after by him. He, with his ugly olive green (she wasn't one that liked that color) sack and his too-wide and too-sparkly eyes - there was nothing to like about Happy. He'd even had the audacity to offer her fish. Charle liked fish, yes, but she wasn't going to stoop so low as to take it from an immature Exceed with a big heart.

For her, it's always been her having the upper hand on him. She's never realized it, but if she thinks about it, Happy was and is always going out of his way for her. From the time he braved Mirajane to get Charle just one small fish (which she refused but regrets now) to the times he protected Wendy because he knew that Charle treasured Wendy as a companion. Happy was always helping her, just like he was now.

His eyes are blazing but she's just afraid that they'll get thrown in prison if they keep acting this way. King Faust obviously has lost his patience with the Exceeds, and to his guards, it's painfully clear that they've betrayed the kingdom of Edolas, even if Charle hasn't. She feels disgusted. Happy is helping her and helping Wendy, and all she can think about is her own comfort. Happy whirls around with the fire still burning in his eyes.

"Wendy and Natsu. We have to save them. Let's go, Charle!" he whisper-shouts and pulls on her paw. She notices how he puts Wendy's name first, as if he doesn't know all about the mission to betray the dragonslayers.

Does she really care about Wendy? It was her mission to bring her here, and she shouldn't have attached any emotions to the young girl. 'We are the gods,' she reminds herself. 'They are humans and they can be sacrificed.' In the split-second that Charle is deciding, Happy has already pulled Charle away, but the guards were still blocking them. She puts a paw to her face. "Wendy...yes, I have to save Wendy," she whispers to herself. "Wendy is the most important." Feeling determined with her decisions, she stands up tall, and stands in front of Happy. An approving look takes over his eyes and she tells herself she doesn't care.

"I am the Queen's daughter, and you will let us pass," she declares with an authoritative tone. The guards' eyes widen in surprise. Immediately they bow down to her, like the trash they are.

"Of course," they chorus, "we apologize for our impolite behavior."

She swishes her tail as she and Happy pass by, nearly hitting a guard in the face. He recoils and she almost does too. 'A-are we that feared? Does being gods mean that we have to be ostracized like this? Are we powerful merely because we can use Aera magic? Are they afraid of us?' in her mind, all these questions churned around, but she could answer none of them.

Happy takes her paw and hurries her down the hall, but for once, she's grateful for the comforting warmth lingering on her paw.
