Beta: Han, you know who you are. Thanks a bunch! You grammar genius you. ;)

AN: Shane and Mitchie are supposed to be in their mid twenties in this fic. So lets say Shane is around 27 and Mitchie is around 24. I suggest that you listen to Carrie Underwood's I Know You Won't to get the full affect of the story.

I Know You Won't

I know you don't mean to be mean to me

'Cause when you want to you can make me feel like we belong

We belong

A monotone "You have 0 messages" rang out through her living room as she set the groceries down on the kitchen counter. Flipping open her cell phone she saw that she hadn't received any text messages either. What more did she expect? She knew she shouldn't be so disappointed, but every time she felt a twinge of pain. Didn't he care for her anymore? Had he found someone else? She could only wonder.

Lately you make me feel all I am is a back-up plan

I say I'm done and then you smile at me and I forget

Everything I said

You say you'll call, but I know you

You say you're coming home, but I know you

You say you'll call, but I know you won't

You say you'll call, but I know you won't

He had not called her in days although she knew his tour had ended weeks ago. Another promise broken. Before he left he had told her he would call. Sure, he had texted her a couple of times but it wasn't the same as hearing his voice. That low, sexy voice that had drawn her in from the first moment despite the arrogance that was laced through it. It could no longer be like those long summer days at Camp Rock with the flirting and fun canoe rides. They had found out about themselves that summer but had also found a new love in each other. The newness and innocence of that relationship is now long gone. They were adults now living in the real world. Their love has been marred by lies and deceit. It's was crumbling right before her eyes.

Gone are the days of summer…

The life of a rockstar had drawn Shane away from her. Of course he was oblivious to it. Rockstars don't think in the terms of science. He understood the art of making music, guitar riffs and scales. But scientific theory was like a foreign language to him. "To every action there is a reaction," her best friend Sierra had drilled that scientific theory into her head and here it was affecting her life. She knew for sure that her reaction wouldn't be a pleasant one when she confronted him. Hopefully she could keep it together without crying.

I buy into those eyes

And into your lies

As she told him that they couldn't be together anymore she saw the pain in his eyes and she wondered if it was anything compared to what he saw in hers. His head bowed dejectedly and his shoulders shook as he cried silently. She couldn't bear it anymore and fled out the door despite the torrential downpour and terrifying lightening. What did it matter if she was struck down when the only man she trusted had disappointed her? She fumbled with her keys as she tried to find the one to her car and fit it into the slot.

She couldn't turn back or she would never be able to walk away. It was a heartbreaking thing she had to do but it was for the best. Hopefully.

You said you'll call but I know you won't…
