This is my first Yaoi fic so here I go with the Intro
Prologue
Shikamaru breathed heavily as he ran through the dark forest within Konoha's borders. His body felt weak yet the kunai in his right hand was clenched tightly as he ran. His chunin vest a miss, his mesh shirt ripped in various places, his hair loose and grimy. Shikamaru knew he had to get out of Konoha's borders and head for Suna before being caught by his pursuers. He stopped for a moment and hid behind a tree to catch his breath before continuing on. "Dammit, who would have known that Konoha became so corrupted after the Third died? Asuma-sensei?! He knew all along that this was going on. That's why they had him killed."
Shikamaru slumped down a bit against the tree and thought about the people who he had left behind. His mother and father, who were probably informed about his betrayal by now. Shikamaru could see his mother crying her eyes out in his father's arms as he shakes his head in disapproval. He thought about Choji and Ino, who might argue in protest that no one is more loyal to Konoha then Shikamaru Nara. They were always such good friend who never accepted any negative comments about their friends. Then Shikamaru thought about his lover who probably felt the worst of all. Neji Hyuuga, the prodigy of the Hyuuga clan and the most wanted man in all of Konoha.
Shikamaru thought of the evening he spent with Neji mere hours before all hell broke loose. Shikamaru thought of the lustful look in Neji's pale lavender eyes as he kissed and sucked along Neji's neck and collarbone. Shikamaru also thought of the moment after their blissful love making when he sat on the edge of the bed and Neji wrapped his arms around him from behind before asking him to stay the night. Shikamaru sighed as he wished that he could have stayed with his lover and avoided this mess.
After a moment of brief silence, a cricket nearby chirped causing Shikamaru to jump a bit and raise his kunai in a defensive position with a frightened yet tense look upon his face. "Better get moving before ANBU catches up." Shikamaru said to himself as he stood up and tucked the kunai between his belt and his pants behind his back. After a look around to see if the coast was clear, Shikamaru quick headed east towards Suna.
