Yu and Mi

My eyes struggled to stay open. I felt my head rest upon a feathered pillow; the feathered bed shifted under his weight. I lifted my head up; my eye lids were heavy.
"Huh," I muttered, "oh, sorry. I just need some water…"
I wore red and blue cloth around my head, creating a turban. The cloth would have belonged to the rich, but I had no idea where I got some; the rest of my body was covered in rags, but hey, it does the job. On my left hand was a bronze gauntlet and hanging from my waist was a long sword. The chocobo I rode was light brown and had blue-green eyes. A jewel embedded collar was worn around his neck. Bags full of supplies and munny hung from my chocobo's body.
The two of us trekked through a desert. All around us, towering, jagged pillars of stone poked through the powdery sand. The sun blazed high above in the clear, cloudless blue sky.
In the distance, I saw two figures in the distance; smudgy, black silhouettes in the distance. As the figures neared, the silhouettes manifest into a pair of soldiers that wore yellow and light brown uniforms. Even nearer, I saw that one was older and rode a brown and white horse. The other was younger and rode a yellow chocobo whose feathers would have shined if not for the sand in its feathers.
The older soldier glared at me, and then he hopped off his horse. His feet barely made a sound. The younger soldier followed. As the two soldiers neared, I dropped down from my own chocobo.
"Hey there," I said, "What are you doing all the way out here?"
The older soldier had a scared face and had graying hair and a beard. "There's a war in our country. We believe that our enemies will soon invade your country."
I took in what he said; I asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm Yu," the older soldier answered.
"You're me?" I gasped.
"No," said the younger soldier, "I'm Mi, he's Yu."
"So," I pointed at the older man, "you're me?"
"He's Mi!" the older man exclaimed, "I'm Yu!"
"That's what I said!"
"No, you said that you were Mi."
"And I thought that he was himself," I mumbled, "but you said he was you."
"I never said that," the older man growled.
I was getting frustrated. "You said it a couple of seconds ago."
"Y'know what," the younger soldier jeered, "I think it's best that we just move along… forget about each other."
"Fine," I hissed as I jumped onto my chocobo, "Just remember; I'm me and you're you."
"He's Mi," the older soldier yelled behind me, "I'm Yu!"
I turned my back on them and continued my journey; I knew the two soldiers also continued their journey. What a bunch of idiots, I thought.

Yu and Mi continued their journey.
"Do think he's retarded?" asked Mi, the younger soldier.
"Nah, I think he hit his head once too many," sneered Yu, the older soldier.
If you didn't catch it, the New Prince was the one telling the story.
This is my first time doing a story in the first person point of view.
Now, back to my other fanfic.
