"Oh my god, oh my god, OH MY GOD!", 11-year-old Rose Weasley squealed. "Gran! I got my Hogwarts letter! GRAN!

Dear Miss Rose Granger,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all the necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on 1st September. We await your owl by no later than 1st July

Yours- " Privately Rose wondered how Professor McGonagall knew she didn't like being called 'Weasley', but she would never utter those words out loud.

"Now, now, I know what a Hogwarts letter is, no need for you to read it out loud,", struggling to hold back her laughter, Grandma Weasley entered the room. "None of your uncles were this excited when they got their letter. Percy toasted us when he got it and said he was thankful to be born into a wizard family, and Ron-", she stopped abruptly, her cheeks reddening.

"Er, well, really?", Rose laughed weakly. "The thing about Percy, it was, er, really funny..."

Ronald Bilius Weasley's name hadn't been spoken at The Burrow for more than 3 years. He had left Rose at The Burrow for more 6 years, focusing more on his job than on his family. He had left Rose at her grandma's first when she was 5, promising he'd be back in a few days. He came on time, stayed for a few days, then went back to his job. The days he was gone for slowly stretched into weeks, then months, and finally, years.

"It's not your fault, Rosie," Molly reassured Rose, embracing her. "He's left us all for more than he should've. He's been acting more and more distant-"

The clock suddenly creaked. Arthur Weasley's hand turned to 'travelling', then just as quickly to 'home'

"I'm home!", sang Arthur Weasley.

"Grandad!" squealed Rose, forgetting the sombre moment quickly "LOOK! I got my letter! My HOGWARTS letter!"

"Really? That's great! You're growing up, Rosie. Actually,", he beamed, looking at his wife. "We have something for you.", he fished for something in his pocket and handed it to Rose. It was a little white box with a blue ribbon. She slowly opened the box and peeked inside. She gasped. It was a silver chain with a little ruby hibiscus and an emerald stem.

"It's supposed to glow when the giver is near.", Molly explained.

"Then why isn't it glowing?"

"Because", she hesitated. "Because your gave it to us, and..and made us promise to give it to you when you started Hogwarts."

Rose felt tears prick at her eyes. She blinked furiously, wishing they would go away.

"It's,", her voice cracked. "It's beautiful."

Molly smiled sadly. "Your mom loves you."

"Loved." Rose said, her voice cracking even more.

"No, Rose. Loves. The dead will never truly leave us. They will always shine through others, and of course, be remembered."

They stood in silence for a few minutes.

"Rose, Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny have invited you to stay with them until term starts."

"How about we go now, Rosie?'

"Ok, Grandad."

"ROSE!"

"Hi, Lily!", laughing, Rose hugged her cousin. "Have you done something magical lately?

"YES! I made a flower lose all its petals just by looking at it and knocked down the gravy boat because I was angry at James. Mum didn't like that very much though.", she added, speaking too fast for Rose to follow.

Rose chuckled.

"ROSE!" This time it was a slightly older boy who hugged her. He had untidy black hair and glasses. Rose was very fond of him since he was the closest thing she had to a big brother.

"Hi, James!"

"I haven't seen you in ages!"

"Rose! Have you also gotten your letter?" this time a younger boy came hurtling down the stairs, also with untidy black hair, but unlike James, he wasn't bespectacled.

Rose put on a face full of sorrow. "No! Have you?"

"Yes, but...but you haven't?! But you've done- Rose!"

"Tricked you again!"

"Hello, Rosie! It's great to see you again."

"Uncle Harry!", hugging him tightly. "Where's Auntie Ginny?"

"She's still at work. She's coming a little later. Dinner's ready, why don't you come and eat?"

With a flick of his wand, Harry placed a bowl of steaming onion soup and bread in front of Rose.

July 31st

"Come ON, dad! We need to get our stuff!"

"Ok, ok. How about we guys go to the Magical Menagerie? Albus and Rose can get their pets."

The minute she set foot in the Magical Menagerie, Rose loved it. The sounds, the sights, everything! There was everything there, from rats doing cartwheels to cats standing up on their hind legs.

"Dad! Look at that black kitten! Can I please have it?"

"I don't know much about cats, Albus-"

crack!

"Harry, these are magical cats. Do you really think that Albus will have to take care of her every single day? Hermio- My friend had a cat who'd roam around freely.", Ginny's ears reddened a bit. "Rosie! It's great to see you!", she said, hugging her tightly. "What would you like to have?"

"It's ok, Auntie, I'll pay for it."

"Nonsense! We're your family, Rose! Now, what is it?"

"Well,", Rose hesitated. "It's that owl over there, but it's for 65 galleons.", she said quietly.

"It doesn't matter! It can be your late birthday present."

"You already got me a birthday present."

"It wasn't enough."

"You can pay 10 galleons."

"50."

"15."

"35."

"30."

"40."

Rose laughed.

"Ok, Auntie."

A beautiful snowy owl perched regally on a tree looked at Rose with inquisitive amber eyes.

"What will you name her?"

And without thinking about it, just knowing the perfect name, she said, "Echo."

They got their supplies and went to Platform 9 and 3/4, and a surprise was waiting for everyone.

"GRANDMA! GRANDFATHER!", everyone yelled, running to Molly and Arthur.

"Hi, James. Still causing trouble? Albus!", she looked at her grandson. "Congratulations! Oh, don't cry, Lily! You'll be going to Hogwarts in no time. "

"One year!", Lily sobbed. "One whole year!"

Rose hugged Lily. "At least you'll have someone to show you around, Lily! And it'll only be one year, not a decade!"

She hugged Harry, Ginny, Arthur and Molly.

"You are your mother's daughter, Rose.", Molly whispered into her ear when they hugged. "Remember that. Always remember that."

They all climbed aboard the Hogwarts Express.

"Now, James,", warned Ginny. "If we get an owl from Minerva saying that you tried to turn a soap dispenser into a bomb or something like that-"

"Great idea, mum! See you in a year! Bye Lily, you'll be coming soon-"

"I mean it, young man!"

"Bye Albus, see you in a year!"

"I'm coming to Hogwarts too, you know! You'll be seeing me every day!"

"But will I bother?", he teased his younger brother. "Take care Rosie, I'll see you around-"

"That's not fair, James! You'll see her around but not me?" James winked and disappeared.

"I swear, one day I'll have him.", muttered Ginny.

"That day is never coming, Gin. Our son will always slip away.", Harry teased. "Bye, everyone! Behave!"

When they found a compartment, they saw it wasn't completely empty.

"Mind if we sit down?", Albus asked. Rose suddenly stiffened, realising who it was.

"Sure. Several people have passed. You're actually the first people who have 'dared' to sit down."

"Why?"

"Because I'm Scorpius Malfoy and apparently you can't sit down, or I'll blast you with my super Death Eater powers!"

"But that's just stupid! Just because you're Draco Malfoy's son doesn't mean you are Draco Malfoy!"

"Explain that to them, and I'm sure they'll come running, begging for my friendship."

Albus laughed. "I'm Albus Potter, and this is Rose Weasl- Granger. Rose Granger." Rose didn't like being called 'Weasley' since it showed that she was Ron's daughter. She preferred to be known as Rose Granger.

Scorpius smiled. "Hello, Rose. Cool necklace!"

Rose got up abruptly. "It was nice meeting you, Scorpius. I think I should go now."

Scorpius looked at her dismally. "Why? Did I say something wrong, or is it more of the fact that I exist?"

She glared, anger suddenly flaring up inside of her. "Both."

The moment The Sorting Hat was placed on Albus, it shouted "GRYFFINDOR!"

"Granger, Rose!", Professor Longbottom called out.

Rose went to the stool, trembling.

"Ah. Ah,", the Sorting Hat murmured. "Too much to choose from. Should I place you in Gryffindor, where your mother was?-Rose flinched- Or should I place you where I might've placed her? What to choose, what to choose.", it lapsed into a long silence. "RAVENCLAW!"

She opened her eyes, surprised. It wasn't like she didn't want to go to Ravenclaw, she was just a bit bewildered. Dazed, she joined the cheering Ravenclaw table.

"Malfoy, Scorpius!"

"RAVENCLAW!"

There was a gasp around the tables. A few Ravenclaws cheered half-heartedly. Looking even more dazed than Rose, he joined the Ravenclaw table.

I'm back! This is a multi-chap fic, so I'll try to upload frequently. I want it to have about 20-30 chapters minimum, so let's see how that turns out!

P.S. I enjoy constructive criticism and cake and...you get the idea. Have fun!

(Also btw I don't really know what to call this so please give ideas through reviews. Finding the Truth is only a temporary name.)
