E/O Challenge: Fervor --- Happy Birthday InSecret and Helen Bache!!

InSecret:

"Way to go, Sammy!"

Dean, on his feet, smiled and cheered on his little brother as the 9-year-old scored yet another goal.

No surprise, even louder whoops roared out from beside him, his beautiful, radiant mother on her feet as well, cheering with unbridled fervor, glee and life.

Life just didn't get any better than this.

"No!"

Dean heard a familiar voice, scream out in pain. But from where? Sammy was standing right before him, smiling, waving …

"No!"

Dean opened his eyes. There in the next bed, 22-year-old Sam was having another nightmare.

Back to the real world.

Helen Bache:

Dean had always been a dog person.

The little puppy 5-year-old Sammy plopped in his lap at the sidewalk adoption stand in Plymouth.

The stray pincher in Duluth that followed him everywhere for the month they were there.

Bobby's rottweiler Samson who'd saved him from the pack of wild dogs that found their way into the salvage yard when he was 13.

But as the hellhound tore into him with rabid fervor, biting and ripping, Sam's screams fading in the background as death and Hell came to take him, Dean had a change of heart.

Maybe cats weren't so bad.
