All Aang was trying to do was be romantic. He wanted to be the perfect guy to Katara. But all that came out was laughter from her when he tried. She'd smile and giggle, which did make him happy, but it would only make him blush. He'd laugh it off as well, but his face would still be bright red.
They had been riding on Appa, going towards the Fire Nation to meet with Zuko for some political meeting. Aang and Katara were talking to each other, her leaning up against the saddle, looking down at him, and him laying backwards on Appa, looking up at her.
They were having a small conversation when suddenly Aang interrupted her, "Do you have a map?"
Katara eyed him suspiciously, "No…why?"
"I keep getting lost in your eyes…"
Katara's eyes widened and she blushed, smiling and starting to giggle, laying down and continuing to laugh as Aang blushed madly.
He had made so many cheesy love quotes like that since they got together, and each would end the same way…her laughing at him…
She didn't laugh because she didn't like him. She only laughed because she thought it was cute, him trying to be a romantic person. And, she loved the cute little blush he'd form after each one.
A few weeks later, he came up with another one, hoping she wouldn't laugh at it. He came up to her as she was making dinner for everyone, kneeling down by the fire.
"Did it hurt, Katara?"
His girlfriend turned to him and raised an eyebrow, eyeing him in wonder as she stood up from her kneeling position, "What?"
"I said- Did it hurt?" He repeated, a nervous smile on his face.
Katara was confused, "Did what hurt?"
Aang smirked as he put his hands on her shoulders, "When you fell from heaven?"
Katara was still confused, but she slowly realized what he was saying. She blushed and started giggling, closing her eyes and looking down as she laughed. Aang looked shocked, but blushed as well, looking down sadly.
In between giggles, Katara managed to say the words, "That was so cheesy, Aang."
Aang blushed harder, his sad expression growing more and more embarrassed.
Katara straightened herself up, though, walking closer to him, slowly wrapping him in a warm embrace, "I love cheesy…"
Aang smiled, looking at her and returning the hug. They pulled apart, only to lean in once more for a firm, yet gentle kiss. Aang smiled against her lips, Yeah…Cheesy is good.
