Now Pikachu and Bun were together, there was just one more problem, their trainers.
Ash and Dawn were Sitting by a lake, just enjoying the breeze.
Ash looked to Dawn, admiring the coordinator when he noticed she was focusing on something.
He saw she was looking at a lily pad, with a heart scale on it.(hey, Luvdiscs actually can be useful!) Dawn thought 'How will i reach that thing?
All the Pokemon are sleeping, and its too far into the water to grab..' Dawn longed to reach the heart scale, but still pondered why.
'It's not worth anything, and i don't need any old moves, why do I want it so badly?
She searched her heart for an answer, when she looked at Ash and they met eyes for a moment that seemed eternal.
They both looked down and blushed feeling akward, then it hit her. 'Of course! for him..' Ash without a word, took off his shirt.
Then he jumped into the water and swam for her treasure, regardless of the fact that it was early autumn and the water was freezing.
"Ash, what are you doing! you could get a cold!" He came back up, with the Heart Scale in his hand. "You...brr..you wanted this?" "Dawn took it in her hand, speechless, and pulled Ash out of the water.
She looked worriedly at her shivering friend, and realized when he took his shirt off, he carelessly threw it in the Lake.
"Ash you're gonna get pneumonia! how are we going to keep you warm!" Blushing as she realized her only solution, she embraced him, wanting to keep him warm.
"Dawn, what happened? are we okay?" He was half in shock from the cold, and from her hug. She assured him with one tight hug, and a "Daijobu.."

After that whole mishap, Ash recovered in Dawn's tent.
He was wrapped around her blanket along with her black overshirt, scarf, and signature hat. Pikachu and Buneary were tending to fluffing his pillow. "Thanks you two!" Dawn said to them, "Now go tend to your egg!" With one last look at the trainer, they carried their brown and yellow spotted egg out of the tent to care to.
Dawn smiled at them as she thought in silence. 'Those two go so well together. The outgoing girl and quiet guy dynamic.. how cute!' Immediately, she blushed when she remembered something her mother told her. Something about pokemon picking up things from their trainers. 'Maybe they picked it up from us,' she thought as she glanced at the face of the daring trainer.
'Maybe Ash does love me back.. He dove into that lake for me, poor guy..' She leaned over and kissed him on the head. "Sweet Dreams Ash."
When the said boy awoke, Dawn rested on his chest, half asleep. "Hey Dawn? Thanks.." She blinked confusedly at that remark. "For what? I should be thanking you. For you jumped into the water for me.." As the coordinator spoke this, she snuggled up to him as his cheeks resembled that of a Pikachu's.
" Anything for you Dawn. Oh, that reminds me," Ash said as he reached into her bag and pulled out the Heart Scale. He handed it to her and smiled. "Remember, this is for you." Ash turned and kissed her on the cheek.
She froze for a second, bewildered at the sudden advancement by Ash, but then leaned into Ash's face. " Ash," She started as she locked lips with him for a minute. "I love you." "I love you too."
After that day, they spent the rest of the week together until Ash recovered from his cold.
They then deported for the Veilstone Pokemon Contest. In the waiting room, Dawn prepared for her appeal as she spun around in front of her new boyfriend and companion. "How do I look?"
Ash put his hand in hers and replied with a huge grin, "Beautiful!"
Dawn reached into her bag and pulled another thing out. "Just one last touch." She clipped the Heart Scale into her hair. "..for good luck!"
Ash kissed her on the lips and parted ways with a "Daijobu!"
