In a small town of Lunaris, it was in the middle of the afternoon. The area had hills, massive trees around, and clear skies. Lunaris is the home of old heroes. Their leader was named Sonic the Hedgehog. With his speed, he could defeat enemies in seconds. The hero's old enemy was Doctor Eggman he invents killer robots to rule Mobius. But Sonic and his friends always stop him. The heroes with their families lived in Lunaris. Inside a two-story blue house lives three hedgehogs. One of them was in a bedroom that belongs to a girl. The girl was a pink hedgehog with pink hair and blue bangs, and dark green eyes. Her outfit was a dark pink sweatshirt with a white stripe going down the center, dark blue pants, white gloves, and red shoes with white stripes on the middle. The 15-year-old puts on a golden heart-shaped locket around her neck before leaving. As she runs through the hallway, she didn't see someone in front of her
"Hey, watch where you're going, Sonia!" The male said when he hit the floor. Sonia looks down to see her younger brother by a year. He had emerald green fur, pink highlights on his quills, and wears white gloves, red shoes, and an opened-chest blue jacket.
"Oh, sorry about that Manic," Sonia said with a chuckle. Manic rolled his eyes with a smirk before getting up.
"So, why are you in a hurry? Big plans?" The green hedgehog asked with his hands on his hips. The pink one shrugs
"Just an afternoon walk."
"Okay, but you have to come back before dinner," Manic said, sounding like a parent. Sonia chuckled in amusement
"Okay, mom." Both siblings walked downstairs to see an older pink female hedgehog with tied up hair, green eyes, short bangs and were wearing an apron and underneath was a green shirt, light blue pants, white gloves, and pink boots. Both siblings saw a plate of fresh cookies on the counter. Since the adult hedgehog was busy cleaning dishes, Manic sneaks to the cookies. Before the green one could grab on, the adult threw a wooden spoon at the back of his head. The force made Manic fell to the ground
"Ow!" He shouted with his hands on his sore spot. Sonia tried to hold a laugh while the oldest hedgehog walked to her son's side
"I told you to wait until dessert to eat the cookies." His mom said with her arms crossed. The green one got up with his hands still on the spot
"Chaos lady! You didn't have to throw a spoon to teach me a lesson." He said while giving his mother half-closed eyes. The adult hedgehog, Amy chuckled
"That's nothing! I knocked out your father with that spoon when he tried to sneak a chili dog instead of eating my food." The older pink hedgehog said with a smile.
"Wasn't dad knocked out for two days?" The 15-year-old girl asked her mother.
"It was three days." Amy corrected her daughter. Both Sonia and Manic looked at each with sweat on their foreheads.
"So, what are you two doing today?" Their mother asked with one hand on her cheek.
"Just an afternoon walk." The younger pink hedgehog informed.
"I guess I'll go with you. Since I got nothing to do." Manic said with a shrug
"Okay, little bro. You better keep up!" The pink hedgehog said as she runs out of the house. The green hedgehog smirks while fixing his jacket
"Don't let anyone touch those cookies while I'm gone, okay?" He asked his mom who was laughing
"Of course," Amy said with a smile. Manic nods before rushing out of the house. The older hedgehog looked out to see that they were wrestling playing on the ground. Sonia slipped out of her brother's grip before running laughing. Manic follows behind her with a smirk. Amy smiles warmly
"I hope you're watching them, Sonic." She thought with tears forming. The hedgehog siblings were running around but stopped when the smell of sweets hits their noses. They saw a small bakery with Mobians coming in and out
"How we get something from aunt Cream's bakery?" Manic asked his sister. The pink one nods
"Of course. How much money do you have?" Both of them pulled out coins then sighs
"Maybe we can beg again?" Sonia asked.
"Hey, beggars." They looked to see a 17-year-old male mongoose with yellow fur, green eyes, two silver earrings in his left ear, and have jet black hair. He was wearing a black tee with a skull logo, dark blue pants, black shoes, white gloves, and has a guitar strapped on his back.
"Hey, Arthur." Both hedgehog siblings greeted. Arthur waved with a smirk
"I'm guessing that you don't have enough money to buy again?" He asked while pointing at the bakery with his thumb.
"Sadly yes." The green one said.
"I was going to the bakery to grab some bread. We can split it." Arthur said before taking out money from his pocket. The hedgehog's faces brightened up
"Alright! You're a lifesaver Art!" Sonia said with a grin. The mongoose chuckled
"It's no problem." The three entered the bakery and got to the front desk
"Oh hello, Sonia, Manic, and Arthur." It was an adult female rabbit in her early 30's, having cream-colored fur, brown eyes, orange markings around her eyes and the tips of her long ears. She was wearing a long blue dress with a white apron over it, white gloves with a wedding ring on her finger, and orange shoes. Sitting at the front desk was a Chao with a red bow tie with tired eyes
"Hey, aunt Cream." Manic greeted with a wave. Arthur put the 20 dollars on the desk
"One loaf of bread and two cupcakes please." He ordered with a smile. The adult rabbit nods before calling the workers in the kitchen
"Rocks, Star one loaf of bread and two cupcakes." She said.
"Okay, mom!" Two kids said in the kitchen. The hedgehogs and mongoose sat at a table near the large window
"So I'm guessing your parents are on tour again?" Sonia asked Arthur. The said one was putting his guitar on the side of his seat
"Yep. But they'll be back next week." Arthur explained with his elbow resting on the table and resting his cheek on his hand.
"That means that you have the place to yourself? Can I hang out later?" Manic asked.
"Of course. But I have to watch you though." The male mongoose said.
"Oh come on! Just because you used to babysit us doesn't mean you have to watch us all of the time." The green hedgehog said with his cheeks puffed up in annoyance. Arthur chuckles softly
"I know. Just because I'm rich doesn't mean you have to break something expensive. Remember the vase incident?" He asked. Manic looked away embarrassed
"I-I didn't know how to control my spin dash at the time." He said with his green eyes looking down.
"Ya sure." Both Sonia and Arthur said in unison.
"Here's your bread and cupcakes." They all turned to see an 11-year-old male fox with yellow fur, green hair, and hazel eyes. Wearing a big gray sweatshirt, red and white shoes, and white gloves. In his hands was a tray with fresh bread and two small cupcakes
"Yo Rocks." The green hedgehog greeted as the fox puts the bread and sweets down on the table
"Yo." Rocks greeted back with a smile.
"How's it going?" The pink hedgehog asked.
"Everything's been the same. Both dad and Skye are away for the weekend, but they're coming back tomorrow." The fox explained while his crooked tail with white spots on the tip wrap around his legs.
"That's good. How's Star?" Arthur asked.
"She's good. Star's is in the kitchen right now. Can't keep her waiting." Rocks said before walking away in the kitchen.
"What are you two doing today?" Arthur asked the hedgehog siblings.
"Just a morning walk. The usual." Sonia said while eating a cupcake. The mongoose nods then put his guitar on his lap. On the front was writing on marker Property of Mina Mongoose
"That's cool. I'm playing at the cafe later. You can listen if you want." He said while tuning his guitar.
"Of course we'll come! I want to listen to your music." Manic said with excitement.
"I'll do a cover on one of my mom's songs. I'm still working on my song." Arthur said while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Doesn't matter. We'll still come." Sonia said before taking the last bite of her cupcake.
"And we might meet Timer working at the cafe." The green hedgehog said as he eats his cupcake whole.
"Do you guys like cupcakes?" Greeting them was a 9-year-old vixen with green fur, hazel eyes, and a fluffed up tail with a white stripe. She was wearing a light blue shirt, brown shorts, white gloves, and green shoes.
"It's good as always Star," Sonia said with a thumbs up. Star smiles
"Thanks! So, what's today's agenda?" She asked with her arms behind her back.
"We're heading to the cafe to listen Arthur performing. Do you want to want to join after work?" Manic asked the vixen.
"Well when the bakery isn't busy later, Rocks and I will join you," Star said with a shrug.
"Okay, see you later at the cafe," Arthur said with a smile. The green vixen was walking to the kitchen until there was a mini explosion inside. Rocks came out with soot on his fur while holding a burned loaf of bread
"Star, that invention didn't work." He said before coughing up smoke.
"What did you make this time?" Cream asked the green vixen with a worried look. The Chao was snoring before waking up in the background
"I made an invention that makes food cook faster. I still need to work on it." Star said with an awkward laugh. Sonia, Manic, and Arthur stared at this with widened eyes
"Clearly." The green hedgehog remarked. The three walked out of the store to be met by a gust of wind
"Ah! What the?" Arthur shouted out of surprised when a paper hit his face.
"Catch the runaway papers!" The hedgehog siblings look to the right to see three figures running around to get papers
"I shouldn't have given you those papers Timer!" One of them said in a nasal voice. He was 16-year-old hedgehog/cat hybrid with silver fur, yellow eyes with square glasses on his muzzle, a cat tail, and a small set of bangs. He was wearing a light gray vest, gray boots, and white gloves.
"I'm sorry that I can't predict that sudden wind Flame." The second one looks like the first one but without glasses, and was wearing a white tee, white gloves, and dark gray boots with a white stripe in the middle. The one with glasses Flame caught two papers before looking up
"Cinder, get that paper in the air!" Flame shouted. Next to him was a 13-year-old female purple cat with short ponytailed hair, and wearing a dark purple sweater with white fluff on the sleeves, white sweatpants, white gloves, and purple shoes with a yellow line around the sole.
"Okay!" Cinder shouted as she jumped to grab the paper with sparks of fire under her feet. Timer saw the final paper flying to the bakery door
"I got it!" The hybrid runs then grabs the paper. But was too late to see the door opening. His face hits the glass door then falls to the hard ground.
"Ow!" Timer shouted as he holds his face. A second later, Flame yelped as his hands buried in his face in pain. The person who opened the door gasped then goes to the wounded hedgehog.
"Oh, Chaos! Are you okay Timer?" Cream asked in worry. The said hedgehog shook his face to get rid of the pain before smiling
"I'm fine." He said as he gets up with the help of the adult rabbit.
"Okay be more careful next time." Cream said with her hand on her cheek. Cinder got to her brother's side
"He will." She said with a nervous smile. Flame got to his twin's other side with tears of pain
"I hope so! You know how sensitive I am." He said to his silver brother. Timer chuckled as he hands the paper to his twin
"I know." Arthur, Sonia, and Manic got to the group
"Be lucky that he didn't slam through the glass." The green hedgehog commented. The mongoose was reading the paper he was holding then smiles
"Congrats Flame on getting in your dream school." He congrats the now embarrassed Flame. The hedgehog siblings gasped then grins at the said one
"That means you're going to medical school?" Sonia asked.
"Yep! I have to go there next week to start learning." The glasses one grinned showing silver braces.
"You better call us every night when you're away." Cinder said with a smile. Flame ruffled his sister's hair
"Don't worry guys. I'll be back in no time!" He assured them. Sonia then saw Timer looking at his twin with a smile. But she could see a hint of sadness in his yellow eyes
"I get it. Timer won't see his brother for a long time," Sonia side-looked her little brother "I would feel bittersweet if I don't see Manic for so long." She thought. Rocks and Star came out of the bakery
"Hey, mom? Can we hang out with the others?" The crooked-tailed fox asked.
"It'll be quick we promise." The green vixen promised. Cream thought about it for a moment before smiling
"Of course. Since the bakery isn't busy after that fire." She comments which makes Star let out an awkward chuckle.
"We'll clean the soot later." The green-haired fox promised, before him and her sister got to the other Mobians.
"I know. Go and have fun you two." Cream said with Cheese flying and sitting on her shoulder.
"Do you three want to listen to Arthur performing in the cafe?" Manic asked the twin hedgehogs and cat.
"Ya sure. Dad will pick us up in an hour, so we have time to spare." Timer said with a shrug. Sonia looks at the setting sun
"All of you can go without me. I have to do something first." The pink hedgehog said to everyone. Her little brother look to see a hill outside of the town then back to her
"Be quick, okay?" Manic asked while smirking. Sonia snickered
"Quick is my middle name." She commented before run off to the hill.
"How is she doing?" Flame asked the green one. Manic sighs as everyone stares at him
"We're still getting by. Sonia has been visiting dad's grave ever since he died." He explained with sadness in his green eyes. Sonia ran up the hill but stops to pluck out a blue iris that was on the ground. She continued to walk with one hand holding the flower and the other in her pant's pocket. Once she got to the top, she put down the iris in front of a gravestone.
"I hope you didn't wait long, dad," Sonia said with a weak smile. The gravestone said Sonic. Father, friend, and hero to all of us.
"It feels weird to not seeing you around town or fighting an enemy on TV." The girl paused for a moment to breath "All of us have been missing you. Even Uncle Shadow." She said with a chuckle. The hedgehog girl sat down before pulled out the golden locket into her palm. Sonia stared at it with a weak smile.
"But I miss you the most."
Then her green eyes widened when a strong wind hits her on the side of her body.
"Where did this wind came from?" She thought as one hand covering her face from the wind while the other put the locket in her sweatshirt. The blue iris flew with the wind into a nearby forest.
"Hey!" Sonia rushed in the forest. She wasn't as fast as her father, so it took a while to find the flower. The hedgehog stopped next to a bush where the iris was laying. As she went down to grab it, her ears picked up voices nearby
"Are the robots ready to go?" A deep voice asked. Sonia peered from the bush to see a small black cubed robot with smaller cubes on the sides like arms, hover jets on the back to help it float, and a blue digital face. Next to it was a male human with gray hair and was wearing a white lab coat with a black shirt underneath, black pants, white gloves with a watch, and black boots. He was wearing glasses, but the glare from the sun blocked his eyes.
"Yes, Dr. Callaghan. Ready for your command!" The robot said in excitement. The human, Dr. Callaghan nods while fixing his glasses
"Good. But we have to be on our feet. Lunaris is home to those Mobians heroes. They might destroy some robots if we're not careful." He explained. Sonia's green eyes widened, and her ears went back
"Robots? But Eggman died with dad. How could there be more robots?! I must warn the others!" The hedgehog got up and backs up.
SNAP!
Sonia freezes with her pink fur-raising. She didn't see a branch behind her. The first one to turn was the robot with a shocked digital face. The hedgehog felt a shiver going down her spine when she saw the human's full face. There were three long pale scars on his lip going up to his forehead. Dr. Callaghan smirks with his pale blue eyes shining
"Looks like the hunt begins early!" He raised his hand that had the watch towards Sonia then medium-sized robotic foxes came out then rushes towards her. Sonia yelped before running away while the machines chase her.
"I don't think robot foxes could capture strong Mobians." The robot said. The human side-looked the other
"I'm not an idiot, Glitch!" He hissed that made Glitch shake in his creator's tone.
"I-I know! But we need more." The robot stuttered. Dr. Callaghan chuckles as he presses buttons his watch. Glitch looked back at the mechanical footsteps behind them.
"We have plenty." The human said with a grin.
"Who was that guy?" Sonia thought as she runs through the forest. She hears metal footsteps following behind her. The hedgehog got to the hill that leads down to Lunaris. But jaws grabbed her ankle, making her trip. Sonia quickly got on her back as her gloved hands try to push a metal fox off of her. The robot growled before slashing the hedgehog's cheek with its claws. The pink hedgehog screamed in pain when three claw marks raked her cheek. She kicked the fox, making it hit another one behind it. Sonia got up to put her hand on her bleeding cheek. But she wasn't prepared when another fox pushed her down the hill. The pink one rolled all the way down before landing on the bottom. The area was spinning around her as she had the urge to vomit. Only her brother Manic can use the spin dash like their father. So she wasn't used to rolling or the dizziness. Sonia groaned as she feels the blood from her cheek. She heard metal footsteps going down the hill then the foxes ran passed her towards Lunaris. Green eyes snapped open as she gets up
"Oh, Chaos!" Sonia runs towards the town as fast as she can, hoping to stop the robots before anything could happen.
~Meanwhile~
The customers in the cafe clapped after Arthur's performance.
"Thank you," The mongoose said with a smile "That was one of my mother's songs. I hope you all have time to listen to my original today."
"Do it!" Timer shouted from the table with his siblings. Rocks and Star were sitting near them while Manic was sitting alone. His green eyes look at the door, waiting for his sister
"She's taking a long time at dad's grave. I hope she's okay." He hoped.
"Okay, I'll start in a minute to tune my guitar," Arthur said while fixing the old guitar. Cinder picked up her tea but saw it was empty.
"Want me to refill it?" Flame asked with a smirk. The light purple cat nods
"Yep! Thanks." She said as she gives her cup to her brother. The glasses one gave her a wink
"No problem." He said as he walks away. But when he was coming back, he gasped in pain before putting a hand on his cheek. Then he fell to the ground while hugging his body. When the cup and his body hit the wooden floor, everyone got to around him.
"What's wrong? Is someone hurt?" Arthur asked the group to see if they're hurt. Timer helped his twin to his feet.
"Sonia!" Flame coughed while having an arm around his stomach "Something happened to her!" Manic had widened eyes, but they all turned towards the window when they heard screaming. The group saw people running away from metal foxes
"What the hell?" The Mongoose shouted. One of the robots stopped as it turns its head towards the cafe window.
"Everybody get down!" Star shouted when the fox crashed through the window. Glass hit the floors when the robot ran towards them. It was going to Rocks, but the fox was hit by a guitar
"Sorry but tickets are sold out for the evening!" Arthur comments as he pulls Rocks to his feet. Soon more foxes came in the cafe. The hedgehog twins and their sister were behind a table while throwing plates, Arthur swings his guitar with Star and Rocks behind him, and Manic spin-dash any robot that was near. The green vixen had widened eyes when she saw a machine creeping behind Manic who was busy fighting the ones in front.
"Manic, behind you!" Star warned. But it was too late when the fox jumped on the hedgehog's back, making him fall chest first through a wooden table. Flame screamed before falling to his side while holding on his now tight chest.
"Bro!" His siblings shouted as they were run out of plates to throw. The mongoose was distracted that a fox jumped on him, making him fall on his back. He pushes his guitar on the robot's chest to get it off of him. Both Rocks and Star held on to each other while shaking in fear. The green hedgehog was trying to get a fox off of his back, but its claws sank into his jacket. The robot opened its jaws then goes down to chomp on Manic's neck. But it was lifted in the air then hits some that were cornering Timer, Flame, and Cinder. The robot fox that was on Arthur was hit by a mallet
"Is everyone alright?" Amy asked with her hammer on her shoulder. Next to her was a male silver hedgehog with yellow eyes, large pot-hair, and wearing a dark silver vest with a badge on the middle, white gloves, and black boots.
"Glad that I came here early today," The silver hedgehog comments "Is Flame okay?" The said hybrid nodded
"Ya, I'm fine now dad." Flame assured him.
"What's going on out there?" The mongoose asked both pink and silver hedgehogs.
"We don't know. Silver and I were chatting outside until we heard screams." Amy informed them.
"Is our mom okay?" Rocks asked while his crooked tail twitches in fear.
"Don't worry about Cream," Silver said, "I've seen her fight in battles worse than this." He assures the fox kids.
"Wait," Amy looks around the room "Where's Sonia?" She asked her son.
"She went to visit dad's grave. But before the foxes came, Flame felt pain from her." Manic explained with fear in his green eyes.
"Mom? Manic? Anyone?!" A familiar voice shouted from outside. Everyone got out of the cafe to see Sonia running around to find the group.
"Sonia, what happened?" Amy asked when her daughter got to them.
"And what happened to your cheek?" Flame asked as he checks it.
"There's a guy with an ugly scar on his face commanded those foxes! He had a cubed robot with him in the forest!" The pink hedgehog blurted out.
"Who is this guy that commanded these robots?" Silver asked.
"I think it was Dr. Callaghan or something," Sonia informed them. Amy had widened eyes
"Dr. Callaghan?" Everyone looked at her in confusion.
"You know this guy mom?" Manic asked. Before she could reply, a bakery near them exploded in flames
"Mom!" Rocks and Star rushed towards the building. When they got there, they saw the side door opened by a coughing rabbit and Chao.
"Are you okay?" The crooked-tailed fox asked. Cream let out some smoky coughs
"Don't worry I'm fine." She assured them and Cheese nods. They got to the other to see they were all looking ahead in widened eyes. The four had their jaws dropped at the scene. Four black robots that were tall as skyscrapers was coming towards them. Both Amy and Silver looked at the kids then looked at each other with sadness in their eyes.
"Cream, take the kids as far away as you can. And please take care of them." The pink hedgehog said with a frown. Cream and the kids had widened eyes as they all know what she meant
"Are you sure?" The rabbit asked looking apprehensive. Amy nodded
"Of course."
"No! We're not going!" Manic protested.
"All of you never had to fight something like this before. You can die in a short time." Silver explained.
"I can handle the pain! I can heal everyone!" Flame shouted.
"What if Uncle Tails, Skye, and my parents come back? We can't leave without you!" Arthur shouted.
"Ya! What if mom comes here and checks on us?" Cinder asked her father.
"I lost dad I won't lose you too!" The green hedgehog shouted at his mother with tears. Sonia watched this in silence. She felt like she was going to faint. It possible caused of the blood loss on her cheek.
"We can fight!" Rocks shouted with his fists out.
"This is our home!" Star shouted.
"Enough!" Silver interrupted everyone.
"We don't like this one bit either! But we can't risk anyone here to be killed. I can't bear anymore loses." The pink hedgehog said with tears in her eyes. Rocks and Star held on to their mother as the other kids stare with widened eyes. Sonia wanted to speak, but a heavy footstep vibrate under them
"Ames, they're getting closer!" Silver informed in worry.
"Where do we go? The next city near us is two hours away!" Cream said with tears in her eyes. Cheese nods while crying
"C-Chao!" He stuttered.
"Don't stop running! If we get out alive, we'll be right behind you." The silver adult said with tears in his eyes. His kids felt sick when their father said if instead of when.
"Come on kids, to the forest!" The rabbit adult pointed to the woods on the other side of Lunaris. Arthur gripped the guitar out of nervous before saying
"You hear what she said! If we stay and argue, those robots will kill us!" He said while mustering up his last of his calmness. Cream and her fox kids went through the woods with the mongoose shortly behind. Silver and his kids hugged each other for a few seconds before they followed the others into the forest.
"You two have to go too," Amy said to her kids. Manic hugged her tightly
"Please don't go like dad did." He choked as he bawls. Sonia's eyes watered at this point. But she has to be strong for her little brother. The pink female put her hand on the green one's shoulder as he lets go of his mother.
"Take care of them," Amy said her daughter. Sonia nods before grabbing her brother's hand and run through the woods. After they disappeared, the two adults let out tears as they rolled down their cheeks.
"Aw, how sweet." Both of them turned to see Dr. Callaghad sitting on a giant robot's shoulder with his gloved hand held a blue iris. His robot was hiding behind his master as his digit eyes stare at the Mobians. Amy growled as she points at him with his hammer
"I don't know how you got here, but I'll stop you with my friend." She said with Silver nodding while objects float around him. The scarred human looked at them with a blank stare.
"You can't win this war. If that blue rat didn't live in my hands, then what are the chances of you winning?" Dr. Callaghad asked while crushing the flower in his hand.
"He's a hedgehog! Not a rat!" The pink hedgehog snarled at the human.
"And what do you mean by Sonic dying in your hands? He died from poison! We thought it was Eggman, but he died from an explosion!" Silver shouted. The scarred human let out a fake yawn
"I'm getting bored from this. Let's finish this." He said with a grin. The robot foxes were running at the Mobians with fangs and claws ready. Amy and Silver looked at each other for a few seconds.
"I'm glad that you're my friend, Silver." The pink female said with a smile. The silver male nods with a smile
"Same to you." Both Mobians turned to the army of foxes getting close to them. Then the two rushes towards the robots with their weapons. Meanwhile, the kids and Cream were still running deep in the forest. Flame yelled in pain while hugging his stomach. He then fell to his knees when pain flashed through his body. Timer saw this then rushes to his twin's side
"L-Leave me! I'm only slowing you down!" The glass-wearing one pleased. His brother shakes his head
"Hell no! I'm not letting you go like this!" Timer shouted. The doctor in training was about what was his brother was talking about until felt pain in his head. The older twin then scooped up his brother in his arms before running with the group. Cinder had worried eyes for Flame as she runs. The Chao was getting tired of flying that his wings failed. Before he could land on the ground, two gloved hands caught him
"You can rest on my shoulder." Rocks said before he puts the Chao on his shoulder. Arthur was in the back of everyone to make sure no one falls behind. The adult rabbit was in the front for everyone to lead. The group was still running while trying to block out Flame's screams of pain. Sonia side-looked her brother to see dry tear marks on his cheeks. She looks down while still running
"What am I suppose to do? I wish you were here right now dad!"
~Later~
It was nightfall when the group stopped to rest. Sonia was sitting on a log before Flame sat on it with spider webs in his hand
"It's not much, but cobwebs will stop the bleeding. These will be good until we find bandages." He explained as he puts the cobwebs on the pink one's cheek.
"Thanks, Flame," Sonia said with a thumbs up. The rabbit was sitting on her knees with her two kids and Chao by her
"We'll be going at dawn. All of you need to be on high alert in case the robots found us." The adult rabbit explained. Cinder was sitting with her back against a tree with Timer
"We ran for two hours. I don't think someone followed us." She said.
"Do you think dad and Skye are alright?" Star asked her mother in worry. Cream looks up in the starry night
"I have a feeling they are. I hope everyone is alright right now." She said softly. Arthur was watching the trees in case of a stalker with his guitar in his hands
"I'm surprised that this old guitar is still in one piece. I see why mom used it for all of her concerts." The mongoose felt his stomach tightens at the thought of his parents
"I hope they're okay." His ears heard footsteps coming towards them. Arthur hides behind a tree with his guitar ready to swing. When the stranger was next to the tree, the mongoose jumped out to hit them. But under a second, he saw it was an old deer with brown fur, large antlers, and closed eyes with wrinkles. He was wearing a red happi coat, white gloves with one holding a long wooden cane, and black shoes. Seeing this Arthur quickly moved his weapon up, hitting a branch. He shook at the vibration from the blow. The deer had a confusing face without opening his eyes
"Oh, my. Are you okay strange boy?" He asked with a smile. The mongoose glared at him
"You're calling me strange? It's odd for someone in your age to be walking around here at night!" He yelled at the deer.
"Mister Bristlecone?" Arthur turned to see Cream by his side.
"Wait, you know him?" Rocks asked when he was with his mother.
"Yes, he was friends with my mother in the nursing home before she passed away. What on Mobius are you doing here?" The adult rabbit asked.
"Chao!" Cheese agreeing while flying near her
"I was coming back to my village around here. But I should be asking you the same question." Bristlecone said while looking at the group nearby.
"Someone attacked our town. And we were walking to the nearest city." Rocks explained with his crooked tail around him.
"But the nearest city is far away from here. How about you stay at my home for a while?" The elder assisted. Cream waved her hand
"Oh, no. There's too many of us to stay at your home." She explained with a frown.
"No, I meant you all could live in the village. It's been abandoned for many years." Bristlecone explained with a smile. Everyone looked at the elder with a raised brow
"Why is it abandoned?" Manic asked. The deer chuckles softly
"Because." He paused for a moment "The villagers were murdered!" He screeches. Everyone screamed with their faces paled. Bristlecone laughed at the reactions
"Kidding! There was a fire many years ago that everyone had to evacuate." He explained. The group all sigh in relief
"Don't give us heart attacks!" Arthur hissed while the deer chuckles
"I'm sorry. Now, follow me if you please." Bristlecone said as he limps deep in the woods with his cane. The group looked at each other before following behind. After a few minutes of walking, the elder stops while looking down.
"Why did we stopped?" Cinder asked. On the ground was a pine cone but it looked like it was in half. Bristlecone turned to them with a smile
"We're here." He announced. Everyone stared ahead to see nothing
"I think his old age has caught up with him." Manic whispered to his sister. The deer looked ahead before walking. But he disappeared out of thin air. Everyone's jaws dropped
"He's a ghost!" Timer shouted.
"It's not possible for everyone to see a ghost!" Arthur shouted. While everyone was freaking out, Star saw the half pine cone near Bristlecone disappeared
"Hmm." She said with a hand under her chin. Without hesitation, the vixen ran straight and disappeared like the elder
"Star!" Both Cream and Rocks shouted.
"Why her?! She was too young to die!" Timer yelled with his hands over his eyes. Suddenly Star's head appeared that almost made her mother faint out of surprise
"Come on guys!" She said before disappearing again. One by one, the group walked through the invisible barrier and Sonia was the last to go through. Her green eyes widened at what she saw. They were at the entrance of a village that could fit 50 people. The wooden houses were one story, a small restaurant, and a medical center.
"Whoa. I never knew there was an invisible village here." The pink hedgehog commented.
"Well, I was reading dad's library, and he was studying a village that had an invisible wall around to protect from enemies at the time. Explorers tried to find it, but they gave up." Star explained.
"And how did an old man find it before them?" Flame asked with his arms crossed.
"I used to stay here many years ago," Bristlecone explained as he walks to a house that was center of the village. The elder rubbed the wooden door while whispering something
"I'm home, Vermillion." He whispered with a smile before entering the abandoned house.
"I guess we're staying here for a while." Cream said as she watches Bristlecone going inside.
"Alright, there are enough houses for all of us. Let's pick." Arthur said as he goes to a house with large windows
"It looks like my house." He murmured as he goes inside. The doctor-in-training went inside the dusty medical center
"I'm surprised that they left this place untouched." His yellow eyes spotted old bandage boxes in a cabinet.
"I should give this to Sonia." He murmured to himself as he puts the box in his vest pocket.
"Hey bro," Timer called from the door "Cinder found us a house."
"Okay, I'll be out in a sec." Flame called back. He only a step forward before a splitting headache hit him. The hedgehog/cat fell to the ground when he felt electric hit his arms and legs. His body spasms around while having trouble breathing from the pain. The electric suddenly stopped after 2 minutes, and his limbs felt normal like nothing happened. Flame stood up while his gloved hand held on to his chest
"What the hell was that? Was it from dad and aunt Amy? I guess they're still alive." He murmured to himself.
"Flame?" The said doctor-in-training turned his head to see Timer standing at the door with a worried expression.
"I'm fine, I just slipped." Flame lied with a small smile.
"I'll tell them in the morning." He thought as his twin helps him up then went out. After putting a bandage on Sonia's cheek, the boys went inside a house.
"There are enough rooms for three of us." Timer said. They heard Cinder's scream from the bathroom near them. The cat opened the door to show a purple octopus tentacle before she slams the door on it.
"I think we'll be having a roommate." Cinder comments as she wents to them.
"Let's hope he'll pay the rent." Flame said while pointing to the bathroom with his thumb. Outside, Cream sees a house that could fit a family. She turned her head to her kids
"Come on, kids. You all need to rest." She calmly said. Star nods while Rocks had an annoyed look with a sleeping Cheese on his shoulder.
"But I'm not that-" The fox stopped when his mother gave him a glare that made the Chao wake up.
"O-Okay!" Rocks stuttered. Cream's glare disappears then smiles
"Okay. You two can pick your rooms then off to bed." The rabbit said. They went inside, leaving Manic and Sonia outside
"I keep forgetting that aunt Cream can be scary at times." The green hedgehog comments. The pink one was scratching the top of the bandage
"Don't pick at it! It'll never heal correctly." Her brother warned.
"Okay Flame. Let's find a house already." The hedgehog siblings found a house that could fit two people. They went inside to see two bedrooms that were facing each other
"I'll take the left one," Manic said as he went into his new room. Sonia nods before entering hers. There was only a queen size bed without sheets. The pink one took off her sweatshirt to reveal a white top before taking off her shoes. She flopped down on the bed then closes her eyes. She opened them when she heard her brother walked in her room
"Something wrong?" Sonia asked as she stood up. Manic rubbed his arm nervously
"Can I sleep with you for the night?" He asked. After a second of silence, the pink female scooted over for her brother
"Just not hog the bed." She said with her arms crossed. Her brother smiled as he flops down on the bed next to his sister. He drifted to slumber as Sonia wrapped an arm around him while smiling before she falls asleep.
I hope you enjoyed this first episode! I've waited for a few years until I've improved my writing. It's weird that it's seven years since I came up with Future Fighters. These past few months I've changed a lot of the story. Like designs, cut characters, and ideas inspired by different media.
