The Mentalist; When the truth is revealed.
Idea: Lisbon reveals that she loves Jane during an interrogation after she gets arrested while assisting in one of Jane's stunts, not knowing that he and the rest of the team are listening. Based during CBI times.
Summary: Teresa Lisbon's personal feelings are revealed after she is arrested while participating in one of Patrick Jane's stunts to catch a killer. Set when the CBI was still around.
Chapter 1:
CBI agent Teresa Lisbon was sitting in an interrogation room that she has sat in so many times before this, only this time, there was a major difference. She was facing that one-way mirror on the perp side of the cold, stainless steel table. She's been waiting for two hours for someone to tell her what the hell was going on, why she couldn't leave and most importantly, where was Patrick Jane?
As if on cue, in walks Agent Sam Bosco, her former boss and the current lead investigator on the Red John case, much to Jane's dismay.
"Why am I here Bosco?" asks Lisbon, in her trademark cool and calm manner.
"Oh, I think you're well aware of why you are being detained here today Agent Lisbon." Replied Bosco, slightly irritated that Lisbon has yet again taken the fall for one of Janes stupid stunts.
"Seriously Sam, we were about to catch a killer. What were you even doing there?"
"My job, making sure EVERYONE abides by the law, something that Jane seems to forget on a regular basis and fools you into taking the blame!" Spat Bosco, getting increasingly angrier with Lisbon.
"I am NOT FOOLED INTO ANYTHING!" replied Lisbon, equally as angry with Bosco's reaction to the recent turn of events.
"Oh come on Lisbon, you can't seriously be sticking up for this guy again, you're facing a suspension for his screw-ups"
"Seriously, this again Sam, He's my responsibility Sam, He's my consultant" Lisbon answered, slowly losing patience with the man in front of her.
"Tell me why Lisbon, TELL ME THE REAL REASON YOU CONSTANTLY COVER FOR THIS IDIOT!" Yelled Bosco, turning red with anger, knuckles turning white as be grasped the edges of the table.
"BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!" Screamed Lisbon before realizing what she had said.
Both went silent and stared at each other, heavy breathing filling the near silent the room. Lisbon let her head all onto the table, struggling to keep the tears at bay, knowing that she had let her one secret out of the bag. After seeing Lisbon morph into a small, dejected woman, Bosco stood silently and left the room and bee-lined to his office, locking his office door behind him.
Lisbon remained in the interrogation room, going through the argument over and over in her head, trying to work out just why she spilled her biggest secret to her former boss.
Little did either of them know, they had an audience in the observation room, including non-other than the man at the heart of the argument, Patrick Jane.
