The crowds. The energy. The thrill in the air. Very few things could bring these to the levels they were at now, and this was the greatest of them.

The Vytal Festival.

Teams from various schools of the four kingdoms had gathered for this. A team would win the first round and send two members on, who, if they won, would choose a single fighter to battle the rest of the way to the top. Some won, some lost, but all were fulfilled in their intentions of finding worthy opponents. For indeed, those that were here were some of the best - for students, anyway.

Team RWBY had just won their first round match against a Haven team, and had sent Yang and Weiss on to the next round. But that wasn't any time soon. There were still several teams to fight in the first round, and for Team RWBY, it was a very important time. Time for...

Food. Put simply, they were starving.

Guided by Yang, they trooped over to a noodle stand, stopping to talk to Emerald, whose team had also won and was sending her and Mercury on.

At the stand, served by a familiar old man (From Dust Till Dawn), Yang got her giant "regular" noodles, Ruby got the same, Weiss got a low-sodium option, and Blake, she got a nice big bowl of tantalizing, mouth-watering... fish.

They despaired when Weiss's card wasn't accepted... and were overjoyed when Team JNPR showed up and Pyrrha paid for them, as well as her own team...

By the time they entered the arena of the stadium (which was floating in the sky), all traces of queasiness had disappeared. For there was nothing like a good fight... especially if you were working with friends, with more cheering you on.

AN: I just watched RWBY Volume 3 Chapter 1: Round One and Oh. My. Oum. It is amazing. May Monty live on in all our memories as the show he began grows. Ren's voice just doesn't sound the same... Even though it's Monty's brother, nothing will ever be able to replace what Monty had done. The best they can do is build upon it, and honor what he did do.
