Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson or Heroes of Olympus.

He remembered the wedding. All of the olympians attended, and so did a few of the minor gods.

He remembered hearing the words "You may now kiss the bride."

He remembered the thought that everything would be perfect. Him and Annabeth, in their little cottage. And with their daughter, Calliope Sophia Jackson a year later. Just one happy family.

Or so he thought.

We were eating lunch one day, in a little Italian restaurant called "Rosa's", when out of nowhere the python showed up. No, I don't mean one of those creepy snakes, if that's what you're thinking. I mean the monster. The one that was sent by Hera to chase around Leto when she was giving birth to Artemis and Apollo.

We got up and started to run. Not the smartest thing to do while fighting a monster, but we were only about a half mile from Camp Half Blood, and the tip of Annabeth's dagger had fallen off from the last time we fought a monster.

Annabeth seemed to fall in slow motion as she tripped over a branch on the side of the ankle twisted in odd way, and I thought I heard I a snap. We were so close, only about an eighth of a mile more, and we would be there.

She grimaced as she stood. Her efforts to continue walking failed, and she fell.

The python was getting closer. Our only chance now was to fight.

I uncapped riptide. Annabeth took her dagger out of her pocket.

And suddenly, the python was here. It hissed at me, its yellow eyes gleaming. I lashed it with my sword.

Suddenly, I heard a scream. Annabeth. I quickly turned around.

She was lying on the ground, bleeding from a long deep cut in her chest. I wanted to go help her, but I knew if I did, the python would attack, and we would all die.

I managed to strike the python in the chest. It turned to dust and disappeared.

I turned around to face Annabeth. Her eyes were closed, and she was barely breathing. I could tell she wasn't going to make it much longer.

"Percy." she said, her lips barely moving. Her voice was nothing above a whisper.

"Annabeth, no. You can't leave me."

"Percy, I have to. I love you."

And then she was gone.
