A/N: This is my first time writing a Lily/Severus fic. I hope it isn't too ooc for you guys. I tried to keep it in character. I'm sure this has probably been done before, (I don't really read many marauder's era fics!) but I wanted to do my take on this moment. Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. JK Rowling does.
Lily hesitated as she stared at platform 9 and ¾. She had said her goodbyes to her family at home, and Severus had taken her there. He turned around and gave her a questioning look. "You all right, Lily?" he asked her, walking over to her.
"Yes…no. I'm nervous," she admitted. "We're just supposed to walk through a wall? Are they mad? We'll get hurt!"
Severus shrugged his shoulders. "That's how we're supposed to get onto the train. We could do it at the same time."
Lily nodded. The idea of going through with Severus, somebody she knew well made her feel better.
"Are you ready now?" Severus asked her.
Lily shook her head as she looked at her friend. "No…what if we get put in different houses? What if our friendship ends there? I'm sure that has happened before."
"It won't," Severus told her adamantly.
"But what if it does?" Lily asked as her voice shook at the thought.
Severus placed his hands on her shoulder. "Lily… I promise you, it won't. We'll always be friends."
"Pinky promise?" Lily asked him, feeling slightly better.
This actually got a smile out of him. "Pinky promise," he said, linking his pinky with hers.
She took a deep breath and turned toward the wall again. "You ready?" he asked her after a moment.
"Yes…on the count of three?" she asked him, smiling.
"One…"
"Two…"
"THREE!"
On the count of three, the two took off running at the same time and went through the wall. Lily closed her eyes right before the crash was supposed to come, but it didn't come. She opened her eyes to see the Hogwarts Express before her. A smile appeared on her lips as they started walking toward it. A new adventure of her life was about to begin.
