Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Epilogue Extended Chapter

Albus clambered onto the train, following his cousin's fiery red hair. Rose found an empty compartment just as the Hogwarts Express started to slowly roll out of Platform 9 ¾. They both sat in silence, quietly wondering what their first year of Hogwarts had in store for them.

I just hope if I do end up in Slytherin, Albus thought, wryly, Uncle Ron won't be too angry. I did feel a lot better after Dad told me that he, himself, had almost been placed in Slytherin. It's just the rest of my family that I'm worried about.

Both Rose and Albus jumped when they heard a soft voice behind them, at the compartment door.

"Is there an empty seat here? Everywhere else is full," a pale, grey-eyed boy asked, sweeping platinum blonde hair out of his face.

Albus knew who he was immediately; his Uncle Ron had pointed his family out back at the station. Rose tensed when she saw him, Ron had strongly voiced his opinions against the Malfoys, whenever the family was mentioned in the papers. The Malfoy family had been in the papers almost as often as the Potters and Weasleys often ever since Draco had become an Auror and Ron had told the children to stay away from the youngest one, Scorpius.

"I recognize you," Albus said, trying not to sound impolite in anyway, "you're Scorpius Malfoy, right?" the other boy nodded, looking a bit uncomfortable. Albus grinned, " I'm Albus Potter and this is my cousin, Rose Weasley," Rose glared at Albus for being friendly with a Malfoy before nodding a curt greeting to the blonde boy and promptly turning back to look out the window.

Albus smiled at the blonde, "You can sit with me."

Scorpius gave him a small smile of thanks before heaving his suitcase onto the rack and plopping down next to Albus. He glanced over to Rose, who was doing her best to ignore him by reading a book she had pulled from her bag.

"Don't mind her," Albus said softly, before trying to start some idle conversation, "So, Scorpius, what house do you want to be sorted into?"

Scorpius gave a small smile, obviously glad that Albus had decided to break the ice," I am thinking Slytherin might be good, since my whole family has been in that," He paused, musingly, "Or maybe Ravenclaw. What about you?"

"I don't really mind as long as I can play qudditch," Albus grinned.

Scorpius brightened at the mention of the sport. "What position do you want to play?"

"Chaser or maybe even beater," Albus grinned, glad to of fond a common ground to talk about. "And you?"

"Oh, I wouldn't care, honestly, I just love everything about the sport," Scorpius said gleefully.

The two boys were so engrossed in their conversation that Rose had to repeat Albus' name a few times before she got his attention.

"I'm going to go change, we almost there," she said as she slipped out of the compartment.

"We should probably change into our uniforms as well," Scprpius said. Albus nodded in agreement.

Albus looked out the window as he got his uniform out of his case, only to see the lights of Hogwarts off in the distance. He smiled slightly as his thoughts started to drift as he changed.

My first year of Hogwarts He thought excitedly. He glanced over to his blonde friend, as Scorpius tried to straighten his tie. I haven't even gotten there and I already have a friend. I hope we end up in the same house. Albus was jostled out of his thoughts as the train rolled to a stop. He grinned excitedly at Scorpius, as they started to head out of the compartment. Well, here we are, about to start a new chapter of our lives.
