I do not own Harry Potter. If I did, I wouldn't be writing on fanfiction. This is deffo au and not for lily potter/evans fans. Please no flames. Also there is no Voldemort in this. Tom Riddle perhaps but no dark lords or death eaters. Consider this an alternate world. I currently have no beta. So sorry for any grammar or spelling errors.
Lily Potter couldn't understand why she and James were unable to have children. Both of them were fertile. So what was stopping them?
The real reason was Mother Magic herself was stopping it from happening. She was not happy with the pairing. Especially since she had chosen James to be with another. To be with Lily he broke betrothal the contract that Mother Magic she had seen fit to have his parents create.
To go against her was a great sin and so she took action. The one thing Lily wanted was a child. So that was never going to happen. At least not with James Potter. It was a shame too, since James was the last of the Potter Family young even to have children.
All around the young 20 yr old red head were witches expecting children It just wasn't fair. Why couldn't she be one of the happy mothers. She knew James was getting impatient. He was the heir to the Potter family and since he was from an Ancient and Noble House he needed to have an heir.
Winter Black was walking in Diagon Alley minding her own business when a redhead ran right into her. The American Witch couldn't help, but sneer. She was England visiting her family. The Black family of England were her cousins, but anyone with Black blood was considered a Black.
"Watch where you are going." she snapped. Like all Blacks she had the famous Black Temper. Of course, there was another reason she was in England. Her uncle was wanting to marry her off. She wasn't going to fight it because this is what her mother and father would have wanted, Yet, Winter was going to voice her opinion if the wizard wasn't compatible for her.
Lily blinked up in surprise at the accent. "Sorry was lost in my own thoughts." she replied, trying to be nice and friendly. "I haven't seen you before. Are you new?"
Winter blinked. This woman was still talking to her. She let out a sigh. This person must be a halfblood or muggleborn. Though how no maj's had a magical child she'd never know.
"Yes. I am visiting my family. My cousin is the head of the family. He is seeking a betrothal contract for me."
"That's barbaric." Lily yelled out.
Winter sneered at that after raising an eyebrow. "That comment right there lets me know you're not a pureblood. After all, every pureblood family does this." She said walking away without another word. She wasn't worth her time.
Lily blinked and then stopped to think. This girl said all pureblood families did this. Did that mean James had one, but he couldn't have. He married her.
She quickly turned home to ask James about this. She then realized that the witch never told her what her name was.
