He smiled looking up at her. Twirl, spin. Twirl, spin. He had fallen long ago, face first into the snow. It had snowed last night, and though it was cloudy then, it was not snowing. They were at Penguin Park, at the top of the hill leading to the lake. He estimated she would fall any second, and was proved right when a weight fell upon him. He smiled down at his best friend. He almost laughed at how Hollywood his situation was. He loved his best friend, yet he was almost positive that the feeling wasn't mutual. He looked over at his person of thought.
"Hey Sakura?"
Sakura Kinnomoto looked over at him. "Yes?"
"…What do you think love is like?"
He trained his amber his up to the sky again. She had to think about it. Oh, of course she knew what being in love was like. The person who she loved was lying beneath her at this very moment.
"I suppose it's like…like spinning. You know, just before, when we were just spinning? If you love someone, and they love you, I think it's like that. Everything in the world tells you to stop before you fall and get hurt, but you just keep going."
They were up and walking down the hill by now, with Syaoran's arm over Sakura's shoulder. The couple who weren't sat down on the snow covered bench. Anybody besides the couple would have to be blind not to see that the two were in love with each other deeply.
Sakura looked over at the lake. It was the greenish water was covered in a thin layer of ice with tattered lily pads frozen in place.
"Have you ever been in love, Sakura?" Syaoran asked the petite young woman beside him.
She smiled sadly. "I am in love, Syaoran. I don't think he would ever love me back though."
"Oh."
Sakura looked up at Syaoran. He seemed a little sad. She couldn't imagine about what, though.
"What's the matter, 'Kura?"
Sakura opened her mouth, but Syaoran cut her off. "And don't you say nothing Sakura. I've been your best friend since we were thirteen. I know when something's the matter with you."
She sighed. What would he think of her, really? Would he be mad? Disgusted?
"I – I want to spin with you…"
Syaoran furrowed his eyebrows. "You want to spin?-You want to spin with me!" His eyes went wide and a smile tugged at his lips. He brought Sakura's face to his, and their lips met.
It wasn't what any of them would have thought their first kiss would be like. Dry lips and wet lips gently creasing – hesitant toungs touching.
But it was perfect.
Syaoran got up with a dazed kind of expression on his face. He held out his hand.
"Shall we spin, then?"
