Her

Hello… my name is Gabriel Silk, it is a ridiculous name, I know but right now I find that it is the only constant thing in my life.

As you probably already know, I go to Bloor's Academy. It is a place of hate, and sometimes, of love. People complain that I'm always frowning, always unhappy.

They would be too.

People also say that I should be happy because I have everything that a boy needs… everything

but her.

I watch as Emma Tolly, walks down the hall, books in her arms, she is alone, (set aside from the usual hustle of other children as they hurry to get to their classes) so I try to take the opportunity to talk to her. In my hand I hold a rose, a measly thing that, to her, probably expresses no emotions at all. To me, it is perfect, delicate, something that only she deserves, I have tried to tell her about my feelings but now I fear I may be to late.

I begin to walk towards her when it happens. She turns her head, only to be greeted by…

Charlie Bone

He is one of my bests friends, and I envy him.

He catches up with her, and they continue their walk towards the Red King's room. Someone comes up to Charlie, whisper's something in his ear, and he stops, mutters something to Emma, and she continues to walk.

I take this chance to walk up to her. She smiles at me.

"Yes"

I smile back.

"Umm… Emma, well, we've hardly ever really talked…I'm"

"Gabriel Silk" she says, confidently, as if she just answered a question.

"Uhh… Yeah I was wondering if…you would… maybe."

Then it comes, she scratches her hand, and I see a small beaded bracelet, it has a very definite, and beautiful design. She looks at me…

"Do you want to see it?"

She unhooks it, and hands it to me, I marvel at its beauty, and without thinking she slips it on my wrist.

I have felt many emotions through clothing, and jewelry but what I feel now is…

Love

Or, at least something to that matter, it is more of a trust, deeper than friendship, deeper than love, it was a trust meant to last.

"Wow" I say snapping it off my wrist, "who gave it to you?"

"Charlie."

"Oh… umm I need to go I." I felt like an idiot, and here is where I made my mistake, I stormed out of the hall, leaving Emma behind. I turn the corner and look down at my hand, realizing I no longer hold the rose.

I look around the corner, and see Emma, leaning over a beautiful delicate rose, outlining it's petals with her fingers…

Charlie stops talking to his friend and starts to walk forward. He catches up to Emma.

"Are you all right?" He asks.

She quickly stands up, and looks up at him.

"Perfect." They continue walking.

And the rose lays there, forgotten.

Hello… my name is Gabriel Silk.

And I am a fool…
