OIOIOIOI

Her heart was pounding into overdrive, each palpitation falling into place with the frantic rhythm as her legs pounded against the slippery, uneven floor. She vaulted clear over a low hanging shard of material protruding from the battered wall on her left, well honed reflexes and natural born skill guiding her back to her feet and away from her pursuer with the ease of a recoiling spring.

Lexi had always hated running away.

She could vault across vertigo inducing structures and plunge head first into the stormiest of seas and would barely think twice about it if given a direct order. She recalled one memorable occasion where she (either out of a rush of brilliance or stupidity) had lunged after a villain in mid-flight. Her momentum had carried her forwards just far enough to latch herself around a metal-clad ankle, successfully bringing the chase to a standstill before the adrenaline rush that ritually comes with every such situation had even managed to fully kick in.

It was only a heartbeat later that she realized that she had pretty much thrown herself straight off a jagged cliff to do so.

She had always hated running away.

It was the feeling of being hunted, of being toyed with and bended to such an expected manner that truly bothered her. She hated the inky fingers of fear that would wrap themselves around her heart whenever she was forced to flee; knowledge of the unknown could send a person to a state of hysteria, but knowledge of being pursued by a known but thoroughly unwelcomed fate doesn't really contribute much to enlightening a possibly dire situation either.

Still, she runs.

She flees because she had been ordered to.

Her communicator burst into life, her leader's voice coming through it in a rush of static, yet his message crystal clear:

'Fight back.'

Lexi had whirled around even before Ace's voice had fully died away, her previous dread ever quick to be replaced with one of rather well placed excitement as she readies herself for battle. She fell back into a familiar stance that has grown to be a second nature for her; waiting for the unexpected, waiting to strike back in defence... or quite possibly, offence.

She was done running.

Lexi Bunny was finally back in her element.

This was done for a writing challenge on . It was 'Slow Down'. Initially had it saved for Rev, but heck, you can't stop inspiration, can you?

Thanks for reading!
