A/N First off all I do not own any claim to Covert Affairs, I just enjoy playing around the characters.
Inspired by the snowfall yesterday. Just a bit of fun.
SNOW DAY
Looking out at the snow that had fallen during the night Jai sighed and reached for his heavy coat. Like his mother he much preferred the warmer climates to the blustery east coast winters. Making sure he had his phone and ID he headed for the door knowing the snow would make the commute longer.
Arriving at Langley he parked in his customary spot and heading for the main building. Up ahead he spotted Annie noting that she'd exchanged her heels for a pair of snug leather boots that hugged her legs perfectly. Quickening his pace he hurried to catch up to her. "Hey, Annie. Wait up."
Her eyes sparkling with mischief the young woman paused to scoop up a handful of snow which she formed into a ball and tossed it at him laughing as he made a futile attempt to dodge the snowball striking him on his shoulder.
"Oh no you don't," Jai replied making his own snowball and tossing it at her.
Auggie had become quite adept at locating a person's position from the sound of their voice. Hearing Jai stop to talk to Annie was just to tempting not to take a shot at the other man. Quickly he knelt down and scooped up enough snow to make a good sized projectile. Then mentally calculating the right height for his target he pulled back his arm and let it fly. The resulting splat told him that he'd hit someone and he hoped it hadn't been Annie.
Feeling the snowball strike the back of his head Jai automatically put up a hand to brush the snow off and spun around. "What the?" he muttered attempting to seek out his assailant.
"Score," the tech op said in evident satisfaction.
Having witnessed the sneak attack Annie was doing her best to keep laughing at Jai's expression when he saw that Auggie was the only person nearby. "You should see you face," she said between giggles.
"You saw who did it?" Jai asked.
"Yep. Auggie got you good," the young woman replied.
"Hey you happen to be looking at the number one snowball champ in Glencoe," the tech op replied nonchalantly forming another snowball.
"What is this? Pick on Jai day? First Annie and now you," the other man said holding up his hands in mock surrender.
Her arms full of snow Annie crept up behind Auggie and dumped it on his head knowing he could tell who was behind him. "Gotcha!" she exclaimed.
"Hey, Annie, is that playing fair?" Auggie asked turning around to toss his snowball at her.
Just then Joan came walking by inn her customary heels. Spotting the three agents she gave them a look as if to say If you're through playing it's time to get inside and get to work.
"Busted," Annie stated brushing the snow off her jacket. Giving the men a look she started for the building.
After hanging up his coat Jai made a quick stop at the Starbucks to purchase his favorite hot beverage as well as a hot chocolate for Annie and coffee for Auggie. Finding both in Auggie's office he handed them their beverages and asked, "Are we ready for a rematch?" he joked.
"Snowballs at fifty paces?" Annie asked. "Maybe after a few beers at Allen's Tavern tonight."
"The beers sound good," Auggie commented taking a sip of his coffee.
Glancing at the clock the young woman said, "Time to get to work." Hot chocolate in hand she reluctantly headed for the bullpen with Jai right behind her.
