Beacon was never quite the same. The sounds of a girl in red merely echoed through the voided halls. The boy with golden hair felt isolated, lonely. The plates on his shoulders clinked; the only sounds that accompanied him with every step.
In his mind, his hands lifted up and sunk themselves within his head. He wanted to tear our events and undo the done. RWBY, the team that he had joined up with for two years and fought alongside had given him and his team their everything.
His foot landed on a wider floor of stone. The wind tickled against his face with a cold stroke. His eyes were greeted with the outdoors a statue in the distance was the first thing in his sights. It was then he ducked his eyes under his hair and looked downwards. He expired, and gave a single "Ha."
He looked back up at the statue. It was fairly new. A replacement for one that had been there merely weeks before. "I'm such a fool."
The statue depicted four figures slaying a Grimm. The last statue only had two.
He had seen the statue before, but he needed to see it again. The inscription read:-
"Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee,Blake Belladonna,Yang Xiao Long;
Henceforth and forever more let these four heroes be immortalized in their restoration of Beacon Academy."
Jaune shook his head. He looked up at the large impressions of the four girls he had been friends with during his time in the Academy.
"They didn't just give me and my team their everything. They didn't give Beacon their everything. They gave themselves up for the entire populace of Remnant."
All he could do was look at their stone replicas. Never again would he hear their voices. "I never understood why they had to go away… but…"
The sky shined. Jaune was perturbed by the pierce of light so suddenly. It was if the heavens had opened up. Jaune looked up. It had, but not in the way he had imagined.
A second sun burned, glinted like light. It moved across the sky like an aeroplane. No matter what though, he couldn't make it out. The cool air around him warmed to a more comforting aura. It was as if the spirits themselves were caressing him, telling him everything would be okay.
The shining light vanished like that; the second sun hid itself above the clouds. The boy retreated his focus back to the statues where he saw a dove sitting upon the snow-bauble headed girl. It fluttered and flew away when it saw him, the sudden sound of flapping broke the silence and startled him.
His finger itched. When he went to look, he saw something red in between them. A rose petal was caught between them. Several drifted in the wind.
Even though the deaths of team RWBY themselves had never been explicitly reported, he felt as if they were still watching out for him somewhere. Like they had given themselves up to the Earth.
