Txt: Hey Jasmine I need you can you come over?

Txt: Sure I'm in the middle of something so give me 15 minutes and I'll be there. What door should I use?

Txt: The front. It's time to let the cat out of the bag.

"Mom!" I need to tell her what's going on. I just can't keep lying to her.

"What is it Chloe?"

"Jasmine is coming over in a few minutes. We .. or I need to talk to you about something."

"Ok well do you girls want any snacks or maybe something to drink?"

"I'll make some popcorn. But mom you should probably get yourself a drink. This is kind of big."

"Uh oh. Pls tell me your not pregnant!"

"NO! Mom! Lol you have to be having sex to get pregnant. As we already discussed I'm NOT having sex. With anyone."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"I'll get it. Hey Jasmine come on in."

"Are you sure about this?" Thank God for super hearing!

"Yes she's been getting more and more suspicious. Plus she's been asking about Brian and why he hasn't been coming over. I just can't lie about it anymore."

"Ok well I'm here and Alek is on guard duty as usual if you want him to come in."

"Not yet maybe after."

"Chloe it's rude to keep our guest out on the porch. Come on in Jasmine." She's trying to put on that hostess air with out seeming too worried about what we might tell her. "Alright girls. I'm nice and comfortable on the couch with my glass of wine. Why don't you tell me what this is all about?"

"Well mom I know you've noticed a lot of changes over the past few weeks and I want to explain them. Jasmine is here in case you have additional questions that I can't answer."

"Go on."

"Okay so you know how you and dad adopted me from Ukraine?"

"Yes Chloe what's this all about? Quit hemming and hawing and just get to it. I promise I can take it."

"Okay well I'm not who or what you think I am. I'm part of an ancient race called "Mai". Not only am I apart of it but I'm "The Uniter"..."

"The Uniter has Nine lives to live and nine lives to endure. Each more complicated that then last." Jasmine is a life saver.

"I know."

"Wait what do you mean you know?"

"Chloe that's why your dad left. Some one came and talked to us, told us what you were and then apparently threatened your dad. Saying that if he didn't leave that they'd kill you right then. You were only 6 so we knew we didn't have much of a choice. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to freak you out. Altho I didn't know that you were the "uniter" whatever that is."

"It means that she's our leader. She and she alone will bring humans and Mai back together."

"Okay so is this why you've been sneaking out? Why I haven't seen or heard you talk about Brian?"

"Yes. I've been sneaking out for training and as much as I like Brian I can't see him anymore. "Mai and humans don't mix well. Sometimes something as simple as a kiss can kill a human."

"Mom... he said that he was falling in love with me and when he bent down to kiss me I almost let him. I think he's the one." I have got to get out of here. "I'm sorry guys I need a minute. I'll be back."
