February 17

Today is my birthday. I have decided to record what could possibly be the final months of my life. After all, this journal could end up saving a demigod somewhere, someday.

Oh yeah. I happen to be a demigod- the child of a mortal and a Greek god. My name is Shailene. I am fourteen. My father is a simple, mortal man. He works for a museum, guiding tours, or cleaning the exhibits. My mother, on the other hand, happens to be Athena, Greek goddess of Wisdom. I am smart, I guess, but I don't know about wise. My cabin mates are all excellent strategists. But me? I'm just plan old Shai. Nothing special, nothing new.,

Anyway, 2 weeks ago at camp- Camp Half-Blood, that is- I was told by Chiron to go to the attic, visit the Oracle, I was the subject of a prophecy, blah blah blah. The Oracle wouldn't speak. Chiron doesn't know that though. Only my best friends, Galen, Samantha, and Jordan knew the mummified hippie hadn't spoken to me. I was- and am- scared. This is a first in the history of camp. Maybe the prophecy Chiron thought I was subject of was, in fact, for another.

Since camp assumed I had a quest, they were to send me out. Now I am being forced to decide between my 3 best friends- only friends. How am I supposed to choose? Galen, and his silent, smart, and brave skill? Or Sam, and her skill with a bow and stealth? Or Jordan? Her strength, skill, and her intuition would definitely be useful. But, alas, I could only pick 2, and probably lose the 3rd forever.

Okay, so this is my first story, and as you have probably noticed, it is written in diary format. Also, the main character, Shai, isn't great with words. This takes place in the early 1920's. Any questions? Reviews? Stuff I forgot that is important? Please give my story- and me- feedback!
