Chapter 1:

Buster woke up one Tuesday morning feeling very different. He felt very stiff down below. He looked down and to his horror his eyes saw something so shocking it was unexplainable. Before he could react, his father walked in to wake him up for school.
"Good mor-" he barely got those words out before he realized what was going on with his son.
He stared at his young son very proudly for no more than ten seconds before he spoke again.
"Buster, did you pitch a tent inside your bed?" he asked as his son looked at him horrified.
"What's happening, dad?! Why is it up like that?!" Buster's voice was frantic and his father knew that he had to have the inevitable talk with him or else he would worry all day long at school.
"May I sit down, son?" Buster nodded. And for the next ten minutes, his father took the time to explain the changes happening in his body and Buster then understood that he was taking his first step into manhood.
After his father had finished talking with him about puberty and what would continue to happen with his body, he told him that he would not only feel the changes in his body, but some changes with the way he felt as well.
"For example, son, you will start feeling a different way towards the girls in Mr. Ratburn's class as well, and maybe even towards some of your girl friends."
Buster stared at his father almost as if he'd been offended by his insightful words.
"Daaaad, how old do you think I am? I don't think girls have cooties anymore! I think they're pretty now. I'm not a child anymore and my stick shows it."
His father laughed a bit before responding to his oblivious son.
"Oh Buster, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how one day you will look at a girl and you will feel some things which you do not recognize. You will look at her in a different way. That is all I'm going to tell you today. Maybe someday soon we can grab milkshakes at the Ice Cream Shoppe and I can tell you some more. You're not the young man I thought you were anymore. You're growing up and we need to start discussing these things as men do. Now get ready for school, you don't have very much time left to get there."
After his father had left his room, Buster thought about what they had spoken of. Is it true that he was finally growing up? Was Arthur going to experience the same things he would? Had Arthur already gotten this interesting thing which his father told him was called a "boner"? These were all foreign to Buster and he was more curious than ever to find out about them now.
