HI! This is my first fanfic EVER so please be nice when you review. Inspiration comes from "Ocean Star" by Christina DiMari(she's so AWESOME! Read the book-seriously). Thank you Shae for editing this, even though you don't give a "whoopsie-whoopsie bang-bang, and lick she 'way" about Flack OR Angell, I still love you girl! So, enough about me more about the story----------READ IT AND ENJOY(I hope)!!!!

Disclaimer:*clears throat* Jerry Bruckheimer is such a dork,
He won't let me own CSI:NY,
I think he likes to see me cry,
And this is my disclaimer*sigh*.

"I hate you! I hate you all! All you ever do is fight, fight, fight! You're the ones who ruined my life! I wish you all would die!"

Those were the last words Det. Angell screamed at her family before storming up the stairs. She ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut. She didn't know why she brought forth that onslaught when she knew a beating from either her drunken brother or her furious father would follow soon after. All she was sure of was that the little corner of that tiny bathroom was the safest place for her to be at that moment. Her knees were pressed to her chest with such a force she thought her ribs might break. Her mind swirled with questions as tears poured down her face like rain.

"Why does this have to happen ALL the time?"
"Why couldn't I live in a perfect family?"

"Oh God, if you're out there please send me someone to help..." she quietly prayed.

Curled up in that little corner all Det. Jessica Angell could think about was running away.

What Det. Don Flack just witnessed was unlike anything he saw in his life. Sure, he fought with his siblings, but it never got physical enough for him to hit someone trying to break-up the fight in their face. It never got physical enough to hit anyone. Matter of fact, it never even got physical.

"This is crap, I gotta go to her" Flack said under his breath.

He rose from his seat and edged around the room before creeping up the stairs.

She knew she heard someone walkin towards the door. It wasn't a loud, booming noise so that ruled out Brad and her father. No 'flip-flop, flip-flop, flip-flop' was heard so it wasn't her mother and there were no soft thuds or heavy panting so Fudge was off the list too, So who could it be?

"You okay in there Jess?" Don whispered through the door.

"Leave me alone" she replied in a shaky voice.

"I'm coming in"

"Door's locked"

"Not anymore" he said after stepping in the bathroom and closing the door behind him.
Sitting down next to her he proceeded to pull her into an embrace when she started to fight back.

"Which part of leave me alone don't you get?!"she started,"Leave...me...alone! Please."

She tried to fight him off for about a good half hour but the more she struggled the stronger he became. Finally she gave in and let him pull her into a tight, warm hug. She rested her flushed, tear-stained face on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat. All of a sudden, her tears started again.

"please Don," she managed to whisper,"just go."

"Never."he said for the first time in 35 minutes.

"You promise?" she said while acknowledging the captivating beauty of his deep blue eyes.

"Sure thing" he answered with a smile.
