Tokka Week 7 - Day 6 (Time). Enjoy!
Time: It sometimes seems to move in the speed of light. It sometimes crawls like an old turtle. But really, it moves constantly.
Sokka sighed in content. His hands were clasped behind his head. He loved it here, lying on the sand, hearing the sound of the waves, and watching the stars twinkle above them. It 's free time like this that he missed the most. "Toph, I love you," he whispered genuinely.
"Mm," Toph mumbled as she snuggled closer to Sokka. The sand was cool at night, she didn't bother at all. It's really comfortable to just lie there doing nothing. "I love you..longer," she added.
Sokka turned his head to face her. "For how long, exactly?" he asked out of pure curiosity.
How long?
Toph began to wonder when exactly she had fallen for the water tribe boy. It really seemed like an eternity waiting for him to realize her crush on him, but now it also seemed like they've been together forever. How long?, she repeated in her mind. It been like.. forever? Or was it ten years ago when the war ended? But then, the war only felt like yesterday..
"For a long time," she answered, unsure.
Sokka began to scurry in his mind too. Has she fallen for me when she had fever when we were at war?, he thought. Sokka remembered wrapping Toph in his warm blanket when she mumbled Sokka.. you're hurting. Of course he didn't know why then. Was she hurt because I was with Suki that time?, he asked himself. But time has nothing to do with how strong love is..
Suki.. That's the girl whom Sokka loved, Toph remembered. Memories rushed back in her mind. She remembered sneaking out by herself just to cry and punch rocks, just to get away from them because it hurt so bad..
"Toph!" Sokka cupped Toph's face in his hand. He said slowly in deep voice, "I..love..you..mo-"
Toph pulled away from him. "Shut up, Sokka! I know!" she said and hugged him tight.
I love you more..
