Remus always found himself wanting the things he knew he could never have.

A job. Friends. A loving family. And now the thing that he knew was absolutely off limits. And he was talking off limits big time, not off limits like becoming illegal animagi. No, this was much worse.

He wanted her.

He couldn't help it. He couldn't stop staring. Everything about her was so intriguing. The way her eyes would slowly change colour when she was thinking. How her hair could throw rainbows in the sunlight. When she smiled, he felt the whole world light up.

Except for one small part. He sighed. Sirius.

Sirius would kill him for wanting his cousin. Sirius would hate it. And he had a perfectly legitimate reason to. But Remus couldn't help that, either. He just didn't feel that way anymore.

There were, however, small signs that maybe, just maybe, Tonks wanted him back. How she would brush so close past him and blush. The way she'd sit on his lap and fall asleep after meetings. When he found her staring vividly at him.

Remus could never tell her. But he knew his eyes gave him away. He always found himself feeling forced to look away from her, so she couldn't see the desire in his eyes.

But he couldn't just want forever. His desire was growing stronger by the day.

Stars, hide your fires!

Let not light see my black and deep desires. -Macbeth, 1.4
