Author's Note: I know I'm going to sound awfully advertise-y and desperate, but if you're reading this, you should also check out another story of mine called Revelation of Twilight. I really think it's the best thing I've posted on this site, but no one's reviewed it yet, and that makes me a little sad considering it's been up for a month. If you decide to heed my request, thank you, thank you very much!
All right, enjoy.
Two lovers lay in a bed, one awake, marveling, the other asleep, unaware that they were the object of their lover's entrancing. Link positioned himself onto his elbow and rested his face in his palm, smiling. She looked so placid when she slept. Like nothing in their past was of consequence in their present. Like reality didn't exist when she stole to the land of her undoubtedly fantastic dreams. She looked beautiful doing many other things: laughing, combing through her hair with slender fingers, blushing; as bashful as all of these things made Link, none of them amounted to the feeling he got when she did absolutely nothing at all.
He sighed. The sigh shifted to a yawn.
Link hadn't slept.
He'd been so happy watching her rest that he'd lost track of the time. He'd kept track of her breathing and felt irreversibly riveted. As the pale blue skies of morning dominated the black, star-sprinkled night in the window, for the first time in his life, Link began to worry, totally defying the symbol on his left hand. A creature in his chest unexpectedly leapt into over activity as he rethought what he had planned for that day...
She woke from a dream
Her head was on fire
Why was he so nervous?
He took her to the park
She crossed her arms
And lowered her eyelids
Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
A question that you should say yes to
Once in your life
Baby, tonight I've got a question for you
She had no idea
Started to cry
She said in a good way
He took her by the hand
Walked her back home
And they took the long way
"...Good morning," she breathed, informing Link with a start that she had woken.
Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
The question that you should say yes to
Once in your life
Maybe tonight I've got a question for you
I've got a question for you...
...
"...Yes! Oh, Link, of course!"
Haha. :D
This is the product of my year-ago self, when I was working on a song-fic sort of series (that has now been retired completely). I was rummaging through all of my Word documents, scrambling to organize them, when I found this. Surprised at how much I liked this little thing, I decided to post it. I know, it's sinfully short, but I realized that I didn't need to include much more detail since it already sounded good without me adding to it. Plus, I didn't feel like adding to it in the first place.
You really have to listen to this beautiful tune to understand the mood I'm going for. (I wasn't that good at writing one year ago and didn't know how to establish mood very well.) It's called 'Question,' by Old 97s. I heard it on a Scrubs episode. Gorgeous song.
Oh, notice that there's no specific name for 'she.' That's because it seemed pretty pointless to add a character for such a short piece. That character is up to YOU to choose!
(yayyyyy)
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed.
(Don't forget: Revelation of Twilight!)
