I do not own SMAC/X and/or its characters.
Note: This is a one shot, stand alone project. This is basically the first few turns of a game I just started
"Were there always just 5 factions?"
"Once there were 7…"
Planetfall was harsh for everyone, but none more so then for the Spartans.
The hybrids for the farms weren't nearly enough to feed their already growing population. Scouts had gone out to find the other leaders, maybe even acquire some technology.
They never expected to find a faction leader right next to them.
Corzan's bully tactics were known well before planetfall, but now with the Unity's elite, she had more reasons to be feared. She had bullied her way into funds and technology, thanks to Deirdre Skye, felt on top of her game. Pity her game wasn't strong enough.
The two suns where high in the sky. Gaian scouts had been seen mobilizing near permanent Spartan "outpost", the outpost had been raiding farms near Song of Planet . To the Spartans though, the extra scouts didn't present a problem, Spartans where already better than their feeble Gaian counterparts, peaceful and eco-lovers.
If only Corzan hadn't been such a bully to Deirdre.
Out of nowhere, the Impact squad demolished the Spartan camp. The scout rovers stood no chance over the Impact Squad. And they didn't stop there. In weeks, the Gaian Impact squad stormed through Spartan Command, the Spartans stood their ground, but never made it out alive. Blast Rifle Crag was next. The Spartans were supposed to be ready, there was no Mindworms, only men vs. men. Gaian troopers burnt formers, a sign to tell them they were coming. But with no significant weaponry or shielding, Blast Rifle Crag didn't make the night, demolished, no survivors. Corzan escaped with barley enough people to start her new settlement secretly to the North of Gaia's Landing. The assumption was that she was far enough away to plan her revenge, build her troops.
She was caught and defeated. The same Impact Squads that came for her before and came to meet her again.
She was caught trying to escape, they had her strapped and gaged, ready for inspection by Deirdre Skye.
"You bitch." Corzan spat at Deirdre.
"This is proof that your bully tactics won't work on me."
No one knew if the Spartans where real. There was no structural proof of their existence, their history and way of life, preserved only in a small Museum in Gaia's Landing. Corzan spent her days in either the punishment sphere or couped up in a tiny cell next to a batter and godless Miriam Godwinson
