Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry History of Magic Assignment #4 - Write about Cadmus Peverell

Greek Mythology Mega Prompt Challenge - #79 Phoenix

Cadmus Peverell flipped the small black stone three times with his fingers, the Resurrection Stone cool against his skin. He waited for a long moment until the stone grew hot and began shaking on his palm. Suddenly, a ghost of a feminine figure appeared before him. "Cass-Cassiopeia?" Cadmus stuttered, almost dropping the stone.

"Hello, Cadmus." his lover grinned and longingly reached out to him.

"Cassiopeia, my love, I have been in terrible pain whilst you were gone." he strode towards her, almost hugging her when she reached a hand out to stop him.

"You cannot feel me, my love, for I am just a ghostly projection of my old self. I do not belong in this world anymore, therefore I am of this figure." she said in a sad voice.

"It's okay, my dearest. I am deeply contented that you are here with me." he stepped closer to her.

"Of course. I will stay."

Days passed and Cadmus craved to see his passed love in every single moment of the day. He woke up searching for the stone every morning, holding it in his palms until he fell asleep at night. He ignored the feeling of guilt building up inside of him as he watched his Cassiopeia miserably live with him, deprived of her freedom. Selfish as he might sound, but the man only wanted to be with his true love. It was until a cold winter night when he heard his Cassiopeia's sobs echoing around the corners of his house.

Maybe it was his time to take action. If he truly loved her, he wouldn't have denied her of her happiness. He would have set her free.

He could feel the last of his breaths escaping him as his lungs struggled to breathe, yet his throat seemed to be closed up by the rope around his neck.

My Cassiopeia, we will finally be together happily.

The clunking of the black Resurrection stone could be heard echoing the house, as Cassiopeia's sobs disappeared.
