Leafshade's Cruel Past

Chapter 1

A thin mewl drifted across the clearing of a beautiful forest. The sun dappled the ground as the wind whispered through the trees. Suddenly a white tom appeared at the edge of the clearing, his eyes shining with happiness. He puffed his chest out in excitement as he walked up to a cave hidden behind some ferns. "can I see them?" he asked excited. "of course" a voice called back from inside.

The tom purred and pushed his way past the ferns and padded into the dimly lit den. He could make out a silhouette of a cat curled up in the very back. As he approached, the cat lifted her head up to let the sun shine on her face. She was a calico with sharp amber eyes. Her beautiful features shone in the sunlight as she purred a hello to her mate.

At her belly, curled up and asleep lay three kits. One was pure white, just like her father and the other was white with a few brown spots while the last was the exact copy of her mother. The tom purred down at his mate as he sniffed the kits. "They're beautiful, Shade" he mowed, nuzzling Shade. "we should name them" sbe meowed back, picking his cheek.

He smiled down at the kits licking the pure white one "I'm thinking Blizzard" he meowed. Shade nodded " Sure, she looks exactly like you Cloud" she purred back. She then picked the other kits ear. The brown spotted kit squirmed and batted a paw at her mother. "Can we name her Fall?" she asked, smiling at the kits behavior. Cloud nodded his head, a bright smile on his face.

They both turned to the last kit, who had just woken up. She blinked her blurry green eyes cutely and looked up. She blinked at Cloud, then smiled, her eyes losing some of the blurred state. "She looks just like you" he meowed softly at the copy of his mate staring back at him.

Shade nodded "But she has your eyes..." she murmured. "why don't we name her Leaf? After her leaf green eyes." he asked. Shade nodded happily. "Blizzard, Fall and Leaf" she said smiling, licking Leaf on the cheek. Leaf purred happily as she looked around. 'my name is Leaf' she thought to herself, looking around the small cave.
