1. Cookies
Hitake Kakashi loved fortune cookies. Iruka had been puzzled and surprised when that little fact had slipped out one night at dinner. The two had been sitting side by side at the counter of a street vendor enjoying a late dinner when the truth slipped out. It had been Kakshi's idea to go there in the first place, insisting that the food was good and that it was be his treat. Iruka had accepted with a blush and a quiet "hai" of assent. In all honesty Iruka thought the food was okay and not worth going out of his way for but those thoughts has been side-tracked when he saw the crinkle at the corner of Kakashi's eye indicating the man was smiling down at the cookies that had just been placed in front of them of the counter.
"Kakashi?" Iruka had questioned with confusion evident in the timbre of voice.
Carefully selecting a cookie from the tray Kakashi winked at Iruka. "The fortune is the best part." The man paused, "But you have to add 'in bed' at the end."
Cheeks flushing Iruka quirked a brow, "'In bed'? Why?"
"Because, you just do," came the enigmatic reply.
Iruka chuckled and shook his head. Sometimes he just didn't understand the man sitting next to him.
"Listen, you'll see," Kakashi elaborated as he cracked open the cookie. With a snap the halves of the treat broke apart revealing the fortune inside. Kakashi slipped half the cookie under his mask and chewed it noisily as he extracted the tiny slip of paper to read his fortune. The masked man chuckled as he read the words out loud. "Be patient. Perseverance will reward you…in bed"
"Kakashi, it doesn't say that!"
"But it does…see you add 'in bed' at the end and get the real fortune. Try it Iruka."
Iruka sighed and snagged the remaining cookie from the table. He cracked open the baked treat, pieces crumbling from his fingers as he did so. Beside him Kakashi chuckled about a lack of finesse but Iruka chose to ignore him. Munching on a corner of the cookie Iruka unfolded his fortune and blushed furiously.
"This is dumb," he stuttered as he let the fortune fall to land amid the remains of its vessel.
In the blink of an eye Kakashi snatched up the fortune and read it outloud, "You have a fine capacity for the enjoyment of life…in bed. My, my Iruka-sensei, I had no idea."
Iruka groaned.
