When Chris hears the word family, he comes up with a different picture than most kids.
Chris is smart and when the 2nd grade teacher asked him what a family was he gave her the acceptable 7 year olds answer:
A mom, a dad, and a sibling.
Chris is mind over imposed that statement though.
To Chris family was a shop that smelt of incense, lots of animals, and two men who cared about him and each other but refused to admit to the latter.
While other kids talk about their families, Chris remembers T-chan picking up another teacup and D picking up the shoe he threw.
Chris also remembers all of the fancy chocolates and sweets his brother brought D.
Now that he is living with his aunt and uncle again the only time he sees the brand names from boxes that were common-place at the shop, are in shop windows his aunt sighed over and occasionally during Valentines Day.
Family to Chris Orcot is a mysterious man with one purple eye, and one gold eye, his older brother, and the mystique of a little shop in the heart of Chinatown.
One day Chris knows his brother will find the Count, and they will have a family again but until then Chris is happy to wait and just remember.
