Once a long time ago GOD decided to hold a contest. He took thousands of balloons down to Hell.
"Listen up," He said, "You have 24 hours to pop all the balloons you can."
"Why should we," said one
"Yes what's in it for us," said another.
In hell everyone had a "what's in it for us" attitude.
"The one who pops the most balloons," GOD said, "Will be allowed entrance to heaven."
In a flash everyone was trying to pop at the balloons except for one. It was a young girl. She seemed sad for she knew she could not pop all the balloons. She couldn't pop any. She was born with no hands and in hell you are not made whole.
One elderly man came up to the girl.
"Come," he said, "Let me help you pop those balloons."
"Why would you want to do that," the girl asked.
"Because," the man said, "Sometimes a little light can extinguish the darkness."
He had her hold the balloon with her foot and popped it with his fingers. Soon enough the whole region of hell got involved to the dismay of the devil.
The young girl got tired but people encouraged her to stay awake.
"You can do this," said a teenage girl who was once a cheerleader.
"You are doing so good," said the kindly old man.
The next day GOD came back.
"I see that you have popped all of the balloons," He said, "and I can see that the girl born with no hands popped them."
"She did," Satan said, "But she cheated. The others helped her."
GOD looked at them proudly.
"You all helped her?"
"Yes Lord," said the kindly man, "We felt like it was the right thing to do."
"It was," GOD said, "and a gesture like that will not go un rewarded. You have done something kind and beautiful and I am quite proud of you all. Behavior like this shows me that you are in fact worthy of heaven."
"LORD YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS," the devil cried, "THEY ARE SINNERS. SOME ARE WEAKLINGS SURE BUT MOST ARE SINNER AND BAD SINNERS AT THAT."
"They may be sinners," GOD said, "But they behaved like My Son. They put another before themselves."
"Then leave me her," Satin argued.
"I will not," GOD said, "She was the reason they came together."
"So then I get nothing," the devil asked enraged.
"You are correct," GOD said, "You are full of pride. Unless and Until you put yourself last you will forever be unhappy. Now as for the rest of you"
They were transported out of hell and into heaven. Love taught them right and that need was love in disguise.
