As always, rights are all Stephs.
Scan. Down. Up. Across. Left. Right. Right. Left. This is the process my brain goes through- subconsciously of course- as I watch the kids below me, making sure that
they stay alive. Lifeguarding. That's what I do. Well in the summertime at least. Ah summer, the best time of the year. So much freedom, it's tangible. It's almost as if
you can reach out and feel the opportunity all around you. That and the heat, it's pretty hard to tell them apart in these scorching temperatures. But I don't care what
people say. I love it all. The freedom. The heat. The water. It's what I live for. That's how I became a lifeguard you see. My love of summer, heat, and water, all rolled
into one job. I work at a local country club called Royal Creek. It's your standard, statuesque country club. The members are all extremely wealthy and well known. And
I guard their lives. Funny how life works out isn't it?
Anyway tonight's the annual middle of the summer pool party, and I was asked to stay late and close with the pool
manager. Like I could refuse. Kids were already swarming the deck anxiously awaiting the arrival of the food. As I watch the parents try to rain in their children a glare
caught my eye. I knew before I even looked where it was coming from. Those damned sunglasses. Of course the man wearing the sunglasses was the problem. His
normally tousled copper locks, jet black from the water. I ogled the water droplets fell down over the ripples and contours of his perfectly sun-kissed body. Ugh, he was
so gorgeous it hurt. If only he knew how his presences completely erased any sense of self-preservation I had before. If only he—"Bella," His velvety voiced called out,
"Take a break from the chair and go ahead and check the bathrooms." –wasn't totally my boss.
