a small boy in a too-large cloak
walks down the middle row
astounded, he watches the rest
although they're not as amazed as he
words entirely fail the child
but they were raised to know
they know of enchantments and spells,
have seen magic he may never see
he was a kind boy, years ago -
granted his only wish,
his friends and he were one body.
now he will be haunted by their ghosts.
