Discalimer: I don't own any of it.
Draco Malfoy had always been proud of the fact that he didn't need anyone. His parents gave him food and money, of course, but he didn't need human contact the way others seemed to. He had always been perfectly happy knowing that he was not attached to anyone. For him, people were only tools that you could use as a means of getting what you wanted, as long as you were smart enough.
So why was he here? Why was he in a dark, dusty classroom with her? Why did he come back here every night?
He'd tried to tell himself to stop. He shouldn't even have started, but he was a boy, and who could blame him? He tried to pass it off as some sort of strange physical attraction, but the alarm bells kept going off inside of his head. You're getting too close to her, Draco. You need to break it off. What will people think? You're walking on dangerous ground, boy.
And so, every night he met with her, planning to stop. Every night the alarm bells rang, and he opened his mouth to tell her that this needed to end right now, but every night the words fell apart the second her mouth touched his.
Merlin, when did he become so weak? She was just a girl. She wasn't even...
Oh, who was he trying to kid? She wasn't just a girl, not to him, not anymore. You're walking on dangerous ground, boy. End it. End it now.
But her lips were on his, and it felt so right. The kisses were awkward and confused, but he couldn't remember a time when he'd felt this way about anyone. He couldn't remember a time when this wouldn't have mattered to him.
Draco froze. This wasn't good.
"Is something wrong, Draco?"
Yes. Everything's wrong. This, this thing that we're doing right hereāit was never meant to happen.
Say it. Say it right now.
"I love you, Hermione."
Unfortunately I don't have a beta, and this is my first fanfic. If you note any errors or have any constructive criticism, please tell me. I'd appreciate it.
The title is short for the latin saying "Cras amet qui nunquam amavit; quique amavit, cras amet." It can be roughly translated to "May he love tomorrow who has never loved before; and may he who has loved, love tomorrow as well." It's one of the few phrases I can still remember from my latin-taking days.
I hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading :).
