The vampire had been stalking her for several hours now. Bella had seen him out of the corner of her eyes a few times, but dismissed it as her eyes playing tricks on her. Just as she turned the last corner to her house Edward pounced, grabbing her, and pinning her against him as he bit down into her neck draining her essence away. She wanted to scream, but couldn't, his bite had paralyzed her. Bella was trapped, and fading very fast.
As she stood there motionless held in his arms she saw the first rays of the sun come over the horizon. As the light touched Edwards cold pale skin it started to burn, and he hissed in pain dropping his prey to shield his face to try and prevent the inevitable. He slumped to his knees a charred body, and then evaporated into a cloud of ash and dust.
Bella lay on the ground her blood still draining out, just before her last breath she whispered "Fucking vampires."
