Summary: How Jack ended up as the king of Halloween Town.

"Jack! Come on, Jack. Mom's called you like four times to come eat before we go trick-or-treating tonight…. Jack?"

Holly Kellington opened up her brother's bedroom door expecting to find him listening to his Walkman and doing homework. The sight of her little brother laid out, naked, on his bed with an almost empty bottle of pills clutched in his cold, bony fingers was the last thing that she ever wanted to see. His skin was stretched so tightly over his sharp bone structure; it was a miracle that it did not snap.

She stepped closer to the lifeless body and noticed other pieces of the puzzle resting on the bed before her. She saw the bruises littering his broken form, scars spelling out insults where muscles once stood proudly. Reaching for his hand, Holly removed the pill bottle.

A mirthless laugh spilled from her lips as Holly held up the bottle of diet pills she had given to Jack a month before when he was trying to trim down and she caught him outright skipping meals. Holly continued to laugh even as tears began to pour down her cheeks and her mom rushed into the room to see what was going on. As her mother began to sob over the broken body, Holly's hysterics ceased.

"Always knew your name was Jack Skellington, little brother."

With that, she walked away. A smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as she compared the skeleton on the bed to the boy she took trick-or-treating each year, always insistent upon being a skeleton for Halloween.

"Well, it is your favorite holiday, Jack. Remember to have fun."

The end.
