Disclaimer: I don't own them I'm just playing for fun.
Eh another sappy offering from me. This refused to go away until I wrote it down so there you go...reviews as always are very much appreciated.
You are Always on my Mind
Nick pushed the report aside purposefully. He looked in her eyes and said, "I've withdrawn my resignation." Jen swallowed hard, smiled and looked him in the eye hoping to convey all that she was feeling with a look.
"Good. I wouldn't want to lose you." She clenched her hands tightly together under her chin pushing the tears back with all her might. If he detected any loss in her composure he didn't let on. Everything was as it should be. Nick was back. Dane Majors hadn't killed him as only this morning she'd feared he might have.
Except things weren't right, not really, there was still so much left unsaid: things she needed to say to him. Before all this had happened she'd managed to hide her feelings and be reasonably content seeing him everyday and working by his side justifying to herself that she'd had to make the decision to leave him because of the job. But that wasn't enough anymore, the job wasn't enough, not now she'd nearly lost him and she never wanted to feel that way again. She looked over at his handsome face barely marred by the cuts and bruises Dane had cruelly inflicted upon him, a slight furrow between his kind soft blue eyes as he concentrated on the statement she'd typed up for him. Her eyes moved down his chest to his strong arms and she wanted to be there again so badly.
They sat on his couch in silence remnants of dinner strewn across the coffee table. Only last night she'd wondered if they'd ever be able to spend time together like this again. All that had not been said swirled like a fog in the air around them. Love the defining connection between them, it's delicate tendrils frayed but not broken by the events of the last few months, had begun to weave anew over the last few days, shoots that wound their way around her heart binding her even more closely to him. He looked over at her; she was focused on her hands in her lap for once unsure of what to say to him. She knew what she wanted she just didn't know how to tell him. She looked up at him to see his eyes focused on her, watching her. She smiled shyly at him, "I'm really glad you're all right," she said. He smiled kindly at her and reached for one of her hands, needing to feel that tangible connection between them again. She was worth the risk; he'd take that chance. After all life was short and he was running out of time. He traced the outline of her face gently with the backs of his fingers before coming to rest against her cheek. "You're all I thought of," he said.
The tears she'd been holding in check for days suddenly, uncontrollably made their way down her cheeks as she placed her smaller hand over his and turned to kiss his palm, "And you're all I thought of," she said as her breath hitched in her chest. There was so much she wanted to say but there would be time for that later, instead she said what she most needed to say, what was in the forefront of her mind, "I love you." His eyes spoke of joy, relief and fulfilment of everything he'd been hoping for as he looked at her and smiled while he caressed her cheek with his thumb. She leaned toward him and they crashed together, clinging to one another like drowning people, kissing passionately.
"Marry me Jen," he pleaded between kisses, "we've wasted enough time don't you think?" Her nod was the only answer he needed as he squeezed her as tightly against him as his bruised ribs would allow.
